The Financial Controller role based in Stellenbosch entails overseeing the financial management, day-to-day operations, systems, and personnel management within the organization.RESPONSIBILITIES:Financial Management:Oversee balance sheet reconciliation and financial reporting.Develop and manage annual and monthly budget figures.Conduct variance analysis and forecast deviations.Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements.Day-to-day Operations:Manage VAT calculations, submissions, and audits.Handle intercompany transactions and balances.Review insurance register and broker account reconciliations.Process daily SGA recons, payments, and accruals.Manage fixed assets, ***, and IFRS16 accounting.Handle daily bank processing and reconciliations.Systems and Processes:Enhance and automate financial systems.Implement internal controls and risk management strategies.Oversee SAP year-end closing and continuous process improvements.Personnel Management:Lead and develop the accounting team.Provide training and support as needed.Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.Other Tasks:Authorize payments and journals.Meet month-end deadlines.Present financial reviews to management.Identify and mitigate financial risks.Perform ad-hoc accounting tasks as required.SKILLS:Strong financial acumen.Advanced MS Excel skills.Leadership and people management abilities.Collaboration and teamwork.Adaptability and resilience.Attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent communication and presentation skills.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Relevant financial and accounting qualification.Minimum three years’ experience in a leadership or people management role.Experience in the agricultural or commodities trading industry preferred.Proficiency in SAP S4 Hana and SAP BPC desirable.Experience in a multinational company advantageous.
