WSP is seeking an experienced Junior Site Engineer / Junior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Project Delivery Team. In this role you will be involved in providing technical support and monitoring quality during Construction to Clients and Contractors. This role will involve monitoring of the Quality of work during construction to ensure compliance to the Specifications, Quality Control Plan (QCP) and Issue for Construction drawings to supply WSP with ease that the design intent has been met prior to sign-off. WSP Construction Quality Assurance Engineer (CQA-Engineer) It should be noted that the sole function of the WSP CQA Engineer is quality related and not technically related, and no technical aspects will be address or recommended by the WSP CQA Engineer. The role and responsibility of the WSP CQA Engineer are summarised as follows: Main Responsibilities Attend weekly and monthly site meetings and comment on Quality only. Adopting and applying appropriate quality strategies and standards developed by WSP. Construction Quality Assurance on the quality aspects during the project life cycle relating to earthworks, liner installation, pumps and pipelines, stormwater management. Any works designed by WSP. Draft Non-Conformance Reports and Defect Reports when they are observed and issue for review. Ensure Construction Quality Assurance on all quality aspects during the project life cycle including engineering, fabrication, construction, installation. Ensure that all quality control procedures are in place onsite inline with Quality Control Plan (QCP). Ensure that materials conform to the specifications. Ensuring that suitable material is selected and stockpiled. Testing of material to be done by others. Ensure that appropriate steps have been taken by the Contractor to supply the Client with a quality product that complies with the Standard Specifications, Project Specifications, Issue for Constriction Drawings (IFC) and Scope of Works (SoW). Examine and provide comment on the process and procedure the Contractor will engage in to ensure that the required quality of the project is achieved. Inspect all the work as requested by the Contractor and Client. Identify problematic areas early in the construction cycle and recommend improvements to the testing or evaluation process. Logging of test results from source / borrow area identified by the Contractor, and verify their suitability based on test results done by others Contractor demonstrate compliance with Project Specification. Monitoring the Contractor’s testing philosophy and checking compliance to the Quality Control Plan (QCP) or Inspection and Testing Plan (ITP). Hold points will be identified by WSP Design Engineer / WSP Project Engineer. Preparation and issue (co-signed by Client / WSP Project Engineer) of Site Instructions (SI) regarding quality and Non-conformances reports (NCR’s) as and when required. Implement the WSP Construction Quality Control (CQA) record documentation system that includes meeting minutes (if available from Client), record drawings, field and laboratory test results, construction photographs and design changes. This will form part of the Construction Close-out report. Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA / QC) on all the quality aspects during the project construction life cycle. Document and record drawings of the construction, including any modifications carried out during the construction. Responsible for guaranteeing an acceptable level of quality for the Project Engineer for Project sign-off. Review and monitor Contractors Inspection and Testing Plan (ITP) and Quality Control Plan (QCP) program. Sign-off to be done by WSP Project Engineer. Study Standard Specifications / Works Information / Project Specifications to determine if the Contractor’s is compliant. Supervise all construction activities and track all progress in regards to quality submissions from the Contractor prior to continuing with the next work. Sign-off on all laboratory results and ensure accurate record keeping and filing. Only acceptance and approval. No rectification measures may be supplied by the Construction Quality Assurance Engineer. Tracking of test results and elevations received and confirming their compliance to the Standard Specifications, Project Specifications, Issue for Constriction Drawings (IFC) and Scope of Works (SoW). Witnessing and sign-off of all off-site manufactured equipment and associated factory tests. Witnessing of hold points regarding Construction Quality Control and Construction Quality Assurance testing and test results (material characteristics, laboratory results, surveys, compaction, moisture content) and the logging of all. Administrative Keep accurate registers for the following: Request for information (RFI). Site Instructions (SI). Drawing Register. Engineering Instructions (SI). Concessions. Method statements (MS). Inspection and Testing Plan (ITP). Quality Control Plan (QCP). Reporting Compile Quality reports highlighting potential quality issues, site photographs, weather conditions and action tracking (test results received, tests passing, tests failing) as well as delays, and issues that need to be tracked, such as Non-Conformances and Defects or deviations to the design. Reporting through agreed lines on construction progress. Draft daily and weekly quality reports to be reviewed by the Resident Engineer or Project Engineer. Draft Construction Completion report and Summary test sheet for DFFE submission. Client Day to day liaison with client representative – Quality oversight to ensure a seamless flow of information between all parties. Liaison with the Client Project Manager, via the WSP Project Manager Payment No site payment issues will be dealt with by the WSP Quality Assurance Engineer. Contractor Approve and reject test and materials based on the Standard Specifications, Project Specifications, Issue for Constriction Drawings (IFC) and Scope of Works (SoW). No rectification measures may be supplied by the Construction Quality Assurance Engineer. Schedule No schedule issues will be dealt with by the WSP Quality Assurance Engineer. Legislation The Construction Quality Assurance Engineer will only conform to environmental standards and protocols for the project. The Construction Quality Assurance Engineer will only conform to Health and Safety standards and protocols project. Culture Liaise with the global mining networks, which includes specialists within WSP both nationally and internationally. You will be expected to join team meetings and calls as and when required to help develop internal Group relationships Work collaboratively with other senior members of the Mine Waste team to implement the business growth strategy. Be mentored by Senior and Intermediate staff members. Demonstrate health and safety leadership, promoting a safe working environment and an interdependent health and safety culture. Set a positive example to others through identifying and eliminating workplace safety hazards and acting in the spirit of our health and safety policy and procedures at all times Act as a visible role model of WSP’s culture, demonstrating values and behaviors consistent with our Code of Conduct and Values Skills and Qualifications B.Eng (Civil) preferable, or B.Tech, , Geosynthetic Installation would be advantageous. At least 1 to 3 years’ post-graduate experience, with at least 1 years’ experience in geosynthetic Installation. Registered as a Candidate with ECSA. Word and Excel will be advantageous. Good technical skills and keen to learn and grow. Additional reimbursement items (Project Dependent) Accommodation will be covered by WSP. Food and beverages will be covered by WSP. Traveling and Toll will be reimbursed. Site Vehicles for Site will be supplied (Project Dependent) Wifi will be supplied by WSP or will be claimed against the project.
