We have offices and teams in The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, and South Africa. Data Centres is a strategic market for Royal HaskoningDHV. Main Responsibilities You will be responsible for overseeing and managing all structural engineering aspects of data centre design projects. Project responsibility will be varied from inception of defining a Client’s design brief to inspections, specifications, design, and management of projects. This role requires someone with the ability to lead a team of engineers, deliver quality&robust deliverables, and ensure that all project milestones are met on time and within budget. Role objectives include: Providing leadership to the Cape Town Structures team, reporting to the Associate Director Maintaining effective communication and relationship with our global teams (NL, GER&UK) Provide technical leadership on projects Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to design engineers Provide Project Management on projects as required. Business development support including leading bids and proposals Manage and develop own Client portfolio There will be a requirement to support our global teams (NL, GER&UK) on data centre projects There will be a requirement from time to time to assist our RSA Light Industry Team with a range of projects from industrial and commercial. Technical development and management of design projects: Preparation of designs for and associated structures, from initial concepts through to detailed designs. Ensure that the structures are designed to meet the necessary building codes and standards. This includes the design of foundations, structural steel, concrete, and other structural elements. Work closely with other discipline teams involved in the design process, including mechanical and electrical engineers, architects, and project managers. You will ensure that all engineering aspects are coordinated and integrated into the overall design. Be responsible for providing technical expertise in civil and structural engineering. You will be expected to be up to date with the latest technologies and industry standards. You will ensure that all project milestones are met on time and within budget. This includes managing the project schedule, budget, and resources. Production of design calculations including using 3D modelling software, checking, and reviewing of calculations produced by others. Producing sketch drawings / details for drawing / modelling by others and complete checking and reviewing of these prior to issue. Preparation of specifications, and assistance with contract documents. Conduct inspections and surveys, preparation of reports, structural analysis, and reporting. Commercial and management duties: Assisting the Advisory Group in proposal writing, marketing and business development for structural work as required. Commercial and technical management of projects within the office, ensuring that projects show a profitable result. You will ensure that all project milestones are met on time and within budget. Qualifications,Skills and experience BEng / MEng in Civil/Structural Engineering Professional Engineer registration with ECSA Extensive post education experience Good project management skills Good presentation and bid writing skills Experience in the following areas preferred: - Data Centres Experience in the following areas desirable: - Industrial Buildings Food and Beverage Automotive Commercial Buildings European experience (i.e., NL/Germany/UK) is beneficial Knowledge of BIM processes (ISO19650) and implementation Some experience of Common Data Environment platforms such as Asite, BIM360 Proficient in relevant software tools, including AutoCAD, Revit, and Structural and Civil software’s Experience in parametric design tools for automation such as Dynamo / Grasshopper or Python is desirable Knowledge and practical experience of Calculation / modelling Software: TEKLA Structural Designer STAAD Pro TEDDS NBS What we offer you As worldwide engineering firm, we are ambitious, exciting, lively, collaborative, and dynamic.
