Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets.Job DescriptionAs the Control & Instrumentation Engineering Foreman, you will be responsible to ensure that all systems are maintained to ensure safe operation and optimised so that the capacity to the production is maximised, and targets are met. This will include overseeing the maintenance and repair of all electrical equipment and machines, control and instrumentation equipment, and process control networks to ensure availability for the operations according to set target as well as conducting regular inspections on equipment.More of your responsibilities will include:Maintaining a safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal requirements and group working standards and policies related to electrical, electrical, control and instrumentation engineering are implemented and followed on the Operations and ProjectsConducting equipment failure analysis, root cause analysis, best practice, and repair strategies to ensure optimal use and quality of electrical, control and instrumentation services as well as the reporting thereof on a regular basisEnsuring a safe installation operation and maintenance of all electrical and instrumentation equipment in your area of responsibilityEnsuring that programmable logic control (PLC) and supervisory systems are programmed and maintained to Thungela specificationsEnsuring that daily, weekly, and monthly equipment planned maintenance schedules are in place and complied withEnsuring the installation and commissioning of equipment associated with the electrical, control and instrumentation department to ensure the safe operation and its effectivenessEnsuring the refurbishment and repair work completed during breakdowns and planned maintenanceSystem trouble shooting and hardware problem resolution ensure that all equipment faults are correctly diagnosed and analysedEnsuring that machinery and equipment perform safely to design capabilities while ensuring environmental complianceQualificationsMatric/ EquivalentInstrumentation/ Electronic/ Electrical (light current)/ Trade TestDiploma in light electrical or equivalent (it will be an advantage)Experience & KnowledgeMinimum of 5 years’ experience as Senior technician / Technician/ General Engineering Supervisor/Completion of a Medium Voltage or operating regulations for high voltage systems courseAn extensive in-depth knowledge electrical distribution networks and equipmentAn extensive practical and working knowledge of various industrial communication and control system networksAn in-depth knowledge of applicable SCADA (WINCC & Android) systemsAn in-depth knowledge of applicable EMS (Ningi & RTS) systemsAdvanced computer literacy: MS Office, SCADA and PLC (Siemen Step 7,1500, Simatic Manager, TIA) softwareAn in-depth knowledge of technical engineering aspects such as outside equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and South Africa Bureau of Standards (SABS)A good working knowledge and understanding of machinery and equipment used in the Mining IndustryAdditional InformationValid Driver’s LicenceValid Certificate of FitnessProblem Solving and Troubleshooting SkillsProject Management SkillsKnowledge of Mine Planning PrinciplesWhat we offerWhen you join Thungela, you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package.
