The Protection Officer – Central Surveillance is responsible for the effective application of CCTV, X-ray and electronic access and monitoring systems to reduce theft, identify procedural and process violations and health and safety issues. Additional to this, this highly skilled professional will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced security systems in high-security environments. This role requires expertise in the operation of specialized security equipment and integrated security systems. To possess in-depth technical knowledge and expertise in security technology, data analysis, and risk assessment. We are the world’s leading primary producer of PGMs, which have a range of specialised applications that improve lives across the world – from vehicle fuel cells to jewelry; dentistry to glassmaking; pacemakers to petroleum refining.Job DescriptionJob responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Ensure the provision of effective surveillance and the generating of effective records and systems.Monitor adherence to policies, procedures and standards and notify management of deviations.Effective record keeping and administration.Monitor and review alarms in high-risk areas and ensure effective alarm systems.Operate electronic access, camera and alarm systems to designated standards.Address system and equipment faults.Recommend changes to procedures, systems and practices to facilitate security measures and client ease of use.Evaluate possible steps for the improvement of security measures including lighting, camera positioning and procedures.Recommend changes to Organizational practices to assist in making sites more surveillance friendly.Other than normal duties:Maintain hardware and software of surveillance and technical systems.Manage general building maintenance.Ensure continuous systems improvement.Provide satisfactory customer service.Control inventory and perform audits, risk assessments on systems.Manage information with general administration, record keeping, reports.QualificationsGrade 12Code 8 Drivers LicensePSIRA Grade BAdditional technical certifications/diplomas or short courses in electronics, security systems, or security related fields will be advantageous.CCTV Advanced Surveillance Skills and body language Course will be advantageous.Experience:Minimum 4 years’ experience in Security or equivalent environment2 years’ experience in Control Room / Surveillance environment will be advantageousPre-RequisitePsychometric AssessmentNo criminal recordPass polygraph testMedical Fitness TestKnowledge and SkillsComputer literacyExtensive experience in the use, managing and maintaining advanced security systems, including knowledge of high-resolution cameras, video analytics software, access control technologies and alarm systems.Proficiency in using advanced video analytics tools for real-time threat detection and risk assessment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret surveillance data and make informed decisions.Knowledge of data privacy regulations and security protocols related to security operations.Technical expertise in networking and IT infrastructure to integrate security systems with other security technologies.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting professional growth and continuous learning.Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to critical incidents.Familiarity with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices related to surveillance system design, privacy, and data protection.Additional InformationWho We Are We aim to lead the industry by pursuing ever safer and more responsible ways of working, demonstrating integrity and showing care and respect for people and the planet?
