The issue of environment is a mega-trend that will increasingly shape consumers’ purchasing decisions (ie, demand) as they select values-based products.Job DescriptionThe Manager Environment will be responsible for providing environmental technical support to the De Beers Group and Managed OperationsKey Responsibilities:Facilitate the implementation of appropriate tools and processes that will enable the implementation of the Group Environment Strategy, Objectives, Programmes, Standards and TargetsAnalyse data and trends to identify risks or opportunities that need to be managed or explored.Maintain the De Beers Group environment risk log and follow up to ensure action plans are on track.Implement Group environment programmes.Draft, for approval, the scopes, budgets and schedules for environmental assignments, studies or programmes.Provide advice, technical input and guidance to the De Beers BUs/operations environmental, biodiversity, water management and mine closure standards, guidelines, assurance tools, and initiatives.Provide support to the BUs/operations to draft scopes, budgets and schedules for environmental assignments, studies or programmes.Conduct incident investigations and develop and maintain the Group Environment incident reporting framework, and database, analyse and share learnings to shape and embed a culture of continuous collaborative learning from incidents.Develop and maintain the key emergency and crisis management response framework, processes and tools and ensure appropriate testingManage Group and Managed ops Permitting requirementsQualificationsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an Environmental / Natural Sciences discipline5 years post-graduate experience in the field of environmental managementStrong technical expertise, business acumen and experience in design and implementation of environmental programmesStrong expertise in delivery of environmental management programmesPractical experience of working at site level in a company or consultancyDemonstrated experience of delivering programmes to budget and schedule and measurement of environmental impactExperience working in complex stakeholder environments.Knowledge and Skills:Performance ReportingMining & Process OperationsProject managementStrong communication and influencing skills.Commercial acumen, problem solving and risk identification.Strong stakeholder managementStrong analytical and risk assessment skillsProven ability to prepare, manage and analyze data.Advanced environmental, permitting, water management, and mine closure knowledge.Advanced Understanding of environmental management Legislation and RegulationsEnvironmental management audit and assurance practiceKey policy drivers in environmental management.Emerging issues in environmental managementAdditional InformationOur Values:Put Safety First – We consider all risks to people and the environment before proceeding with any activity.
