We love what we do, and we work collaboratively to support our faculty and students in their research and music-making.Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Research,and support of the Strategic Research Development Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the effectiveness, efficiency, and success of efforts to attract research funding to the Faculty of Music. The incumbent will be responsible for promoting research initiatives to increase program visibility and reputation, coordinating the preparation of submission materials for both faculty and student body, writing grant applications, keeping well-informed on funding opportunities and resources, application policies/procedures and key deadlines, overseeing tasks related to the production and dissemination of communications/marketing materials and planning and administering expenditures for the operating budget.Your responsibilities will include:Promoting research initiatives to increase program visibility and reputationResearching, analyzing and recommending grant opportunitiesCoordinating funding application processesEnsuring contracts and agreements prepared by others are consistent with University policy and standardsLiaising with agencies, collaborators, industry sponsors, faculty and other stakeholders regarding funding applicationsPreparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collectedMonitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocationsEssential Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum three (3) years of research-related experience in a University or similar research-intensive setting.Demonstrated experience with editing, writing, reviewing and submitting grant proposals, including providing support and guidance regarding operating and infrastructure acquisition budgets.Thorough knowledge of the Faculty of Music relevant research funding programs, research partnerships, research opportunities, and research ethics, as well as related University policies, procedures, and regulations.Experience working with research granting councils and funding agencies.Experience and expertise in the interpretation and application of funding agency policy, criteria and application standards.Experience working with, and specific knowledge of, SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR, and CFI granting application regulationsExperience working with research grant budgets.Must have a level of understanding of research funding opportunities that also allows to proactively suggest funding alternatives to faculty members (e.g., research sponsorship, funding partnerships)Experience working with the University’s Financial Information System (FIS) and Research Information System (RIS)—or similar programs used at other research-intensive organizations.Must have ability to work under pressure and effectively meet tight timelines.Must have the ability to work independently as well as in a teamenvironment.Must exhibit tact, sensitivity, and judgment in dealing with researchers, administrators and funding agency personnelMust be proactive, possess strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Must haveexcellent interpersonal and communications (verbal, written) skills to develop effective relationships with new and existing funding agencies and foundations.To be successful in this role you will be:AccountableOrganizedProactiveResourceful Closing Date: 06/18/2024, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: USW Appointment Type: Budget - Continuing Schedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 11 -- $73,748 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $94,310.
