To provide a professional, cost effective and reliable technical service by repairing and maintaining electrical equipment and electronic control systems to meet the needs of the Terminal and its Clients.To collect and analyse relevant data and develop/compile technical reports and presentationsResponsible for Opex, Capital spares,***/Copex projects and Maintenance contracts optimisation by compiling,reviewing and updating Owner’s requirements specifications (ORS) and ContractsScope of Works (SOW)OutputResearch, develop, control and implement electrical and electronic capital and refurbishment projects to improve the availability and performance of existing and new equipment with the minimum interference to the normal operation of the plant.Repair maintain and optimize computerised control systems, Weighing equipment, PLC’s, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems Variable Speed Drives, Protection relays and other electronic/electrical equipment ensuring optimum reliability and availability of the plant.Adhere to all legislative requirements ie Fire detection and suppression systems, lighting and back-up power systemsProvide a 24 hour technical support service on the computerised control systems and all electrical/electronic equipment to ensure the minimum loss of productivity in the event of a breakdown 3.1 Perform data analysis to identify and report recurring breakdowns and recommend possible improvement initiatives or solutions to resolve..2 Compile issue and present weekly, monthly and annual reports on plant and equipment Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) trends.3.3 Develop, review and update plant and equipment maintenance strategies as per Original Equipment Manufactures’ manuals and/or bad actor Functional Criticality Analysis (FCA); Equipment Criticality Analysis (ECA); Risk Spares Analysis (RSPA); Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) process.3.4 Organize data for input into preventive and predictive maintenance system through analysis of production delays and failures.3.5 Conduct research within the Reliability Engineering and Management field and implement initiatives in order to ensure that Durban Container Terminals Keeps up to date with the latest Reliability Engineering and Management trends.Liaise with plant disciplines and functions regarding critical spare requirements Owners requirements specifications (ORSs) and maintenance contract scope of work requirements.3.7 Compile, review and update ORSs, Critical capital spares specifications and maintenance contracts scope of work.3.8 Coordinate approval and submission of ORSs, Critical capital spares specifications and maintenance contracts scope of work.3.9 Provides expertise in the principles of root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).3.10 Analyze plant and equipment failures to determine root cause and Recommend solution(s) to prevent recurrence.3.11 Provide support to the plant as and when required.3.12 Provide and maintain a safe work environment without risk to the health of Personnel.3.13 Carry-out audits as required. Qualifications and Experience Qualifications & Experience:• NTC 6 (Electrical/Instrumentation)• Red Seal Trade Test Certificate• Valid Code 8/B vehicle drivers licence• 3-5 Years’ experience as an Artisan• 1-2 Years’ experience/exposure post Diploma as a TechnicianOR• T3/S4 National Diploma. (Electrical/Instrumentation).• Valid Code 8/B Vehicle Drivers Licence• 2-3 Years as a technician in a plant with electronic control systems.• .
