Finance Officer
Training and Resources in Early Education (TREE)

The successful candidate will be responsible for fulfilling the role as a Finance Officer reporting to the Finance Manager at Training and Resources in Early Education (TREE) based in Durban North, KwaZulu-Natal. Minimum Requirements: Degree/Diploma in BCOM Accounting or equivalent 5 -10 years of experience in a similar finance role Pastel Experience (Required) Experience working in an NPO environment (added advantage) Strong interpersonal skills are essential Key Responsibilities: Financial Monitoring and Control of daily, monthly, quarterly, annual finances Monitoring of Bank and cash flow required weekly and monthly Check and update all incoming funds Send out email with all bank deposits Loading of all EFT payments Once payments have been released scan proof of payments and email. File proof of payments for Audit purposes Weekly top up of Field Debit Card i.e. Ladysmith, Port Shepstone Monthly Recon of suppliers Monthly Recon of customers Monthly reconciliation of Petty cash to General Ledger for Durban, Port Shepstone and Ladysmith Checking of Top up of KZNS Float Checking of Weekly data captured from manual cashbook on Pastel for all bank accounts Checking on the reconciliation of Cash book entries to balance with bank statement Checking on the reconciliation of debit card with the bank statement for head office, Port Shepstone and Ladysmith Check and Report discrepancies in purchases to allocated budget Checking on the weekly processing on the General Ledger Submission of the funeral policy spreadsheet and proof of payment Assisting with the annual audits Monthly submission of the SARS EMP 201 and Provident Fund Control Provident fund withdrawals through monitoring with service provider Financial Analysis and Control of the TREE Toy Shop Weekly Reconciling of shop cash to receipt book Entering of the shop sales on an excel spreadsheet Monthly sales analysis of cash and eft to ensure that all shop invoices that were generated for the month was paid. Entering of Shop manufactured goods into the shop stock Monthly Recon and banking of shop cash received Balance off the Point-of-Sale account in Pastel on a monthly basis Doing quarterly stock takes for the TREE Shop Picking up any variances in stock Doing stock sheets Financial Control and Monitoring of Fees Reconciling the 3 FEE accounts i.e., Durban, KZNS, KZNN and FET Capturing the receipts of fees against the database. Ensure that the excel spreadsheet balances to the bank statement Capture on Pastel for FET Reconcile FET database to Customer Ledger on FET Pastel Reconcile TREE database to customer Ledger on TREE Pastel Financial administrative duties To check the creation of the Audit files (to check with Junior Bookkeeper) To oversee and check Monthly Submission of receipts and invoices (to check with Junior Bookkeeper) To oversee and check Monthly update of Debit order and Debit card head office usage (to check with Junior Bookkeeper) To oversee and check Recon of Directors credit card and debit card usage (to check with Junior Bookkeeper) Shop Relief - to be taught to assist in the shop with customers as a backup. Required Competencies: Good Operational Decision-Making skills. Excellent Planning and Organization skills. Good Time Management and deadline driven. Excellent Attention to Detail and to be Service Orientated. Proactive and trustworthy.
