An exciting career opportunity exists for someone to perform a critical role within our Insights and Analytics Team at Santam Client Solutions, reporting to the Manager: Insights&Analytics WHAT WILL YOU DO? As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for extracting, transforming, and analysing data to provide actionable insights for business decision-making. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, utilising data visualisation tools like Powerbi. The primary focus will be on ensuring data accuracy, developing insightful reports, and contributing to the optimisation of data-related processes. Your analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex findings will be crucial in this role. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to the enhancement of data-driven decision-making processes. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Data Extraction and Transformation: •Extract, clean, and transform data from various sources for analysis. •Develop and maintain ETL processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability. Analysis and Reporting: •Analyze large datasets to derive meaningful insights. •Create and maintain interactive and insightful reports using Power BI. Collaboration: •Collaborate with the cross functional teams to optimize data structures. •Work closely with business stakeholders to understand analytical requirements. Quality Assurance: •Implement data quality checks and ensure the integrity of analytical outputs. •Identify and rectify discrepancies in data sources. Continuous Learning: •Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices. •Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge. •Provide self-service Bi training to end-users Documentation: •Document data processes, transformations, and analytical methodologies. •Maintain documentation for future reference and team collaboration. •Provide self-service Bi training to end-users, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Analytical Skills: •Proficient in analysing complex datasets and extracting meaningful insights. •Ability to translate business requirements into actionable analytical tasks. Technical Proficiency: •Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation. •Experience with data visualization tools, preferably Power BI. •Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and structures. Statistical and Mathematical Skills: •Solid understanding of statistical methods for data analysis. •Ability to apply mathematical concepts to solve analytical problems. Programming Skills – advantageous: •Basic programming skills (Python, R) for data processing and analysis •Familiarity with scripting languages for automation. Communication Skills: •Excellent communication skills to convey complex data findings in a clear and concise manner. •Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Problem-Solving Abilities: •Proven ability to identify and solve analytical problems independently. •Critical thinking skills for effective decision-making based on data. Attention to Detail: •Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and reliability of analytical outputs. Industry experience: •Short-term insurance experience will be advantageous, •Working knowledge of the Atlassian Suite of products (e.g. JIRA, Confluence) would be advantageous •Knowledge of Agile methods, e.g. Kanban, SCRUM QUALIFICATIONS •Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Business Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related. •Relevant Tertiary qualification or certificate/diploma in Data Analysis from an industry recognized training institution would be advantageous.
