De La Salle Holy Cross College is a South African school which embraces diversity and provides a unique educational experience. Our Catholic ethos is central to our Holy Cross and Lasallian identity of gratitude and generosity, creativity and fortitude, compassion, and commitment. Our College is located in Victory Park, Johannesburg, and consists of a co-educational Junior School, Junior High, and High School. We are an independent, non-profit institution serving the educational needs of the immediate and wider community of Johannesburg.The College invites applications for the following position effective 1 January 2025.Director of Religious EducationApplicants should meet the following requirements:Be suitably qualified and registered with SACE.Experience in teaching Religious Education across a variety Grades in a school environment.Have a pupil-centred approach to teaching and possess the necessary leadership skills required to direct and lead the RE Department and religious formation across the College.Have an enthusiastic, energetic, and creative approach to religious teaching.A passion for faith-based education.An ability to direct, implement and co-ordinate a relevant RE curriculum through the College (Grade RR-12).Be a practicing Catholic with a deep understanding of the Sacraments of the Catholic Church.Have a willingness to embrace, safeguard, and promote the Catholic ethos, values, and mission of the College.An ability to inspire and foster trust, mutual respect, and inclusivity in all relationships.Be fully supportive of the school’s commitment to transformation, diversity, and inclusion.An ability to successfully engage and build rapport with the Owners (the De La Salle Brothers and Holy Cross Sisters), the Board, staff, parents, learners, and other stakeholders in the Catholic education network.Be familiar with our dual charism and founding principles.A proven track record of successful leadership within a school environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Be organized and self-motivated with exceptional interpersonal skills.Be open to embrace changes in education and to integrate IT into your teaching methods with a commitment to life-long learning.Have a willingness to support and participate in the co-curricular activities of the College.A clearance certificate in terms of the Sexual Offenders Register.Please send a letter of application, together with a short CV (not more than 3 pages), as well as the contact details of three referees to: jrodgers@dlshcch.co.za Closing date for applications: Monday, 3 June 2024.De La Salle Holy Cross College Victory Park reserves the right not to proceed with the filling of this post.
