SCOPE: The controls&automation technician will play a crucial role in the successful setup, integration, and operation of the fully automated press line for stamping large sheet metal parts, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality throughout the production process. 1.System Design and Integration: Oversee and approve the design and development of control systems architecture for the fully integrated press line, considering factors such as machine interface, sensor integration, PLC programming, and HMI design. Oversee and approve various subsystems, including stamping presses, conveyors, robotics, and material handling equipment, to ensure seamless communication and coordinated operation. Be able to identify opportunities to improve and enhance control system while running regular production and plan, implement and commission CI's. 2.PLC Programming and Configuration: Develop PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programs using industry-standard programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text) to control and monitor press line operations and associated equipment. Configure PLC hardware and software parameters, addressing inputs/outputs, communication protocols, alarms, interlocks and fault diagnostics to optimize system performance and reliability. 3.HMI Development and Visualization: Design and implement Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screens and graphics to provide operators, production and maintenance with intuitive control and visualization of press line processes, status, and alarms. Customize HMI functionality to allow for manual control overrides, recipe management, production monitoring, and data logging for performance analysis and troubleshooting. 4.Motion Control and Robotics Programming: Program motion control systems, including variable speed drives, motors, and actuators, to synchronize movements and trajectories of press line components, such as die handling systems and robotic arms. Develop robotic control programs for automated tasks, such as part loading/unloading, tooling changeovers, and quality inspections, optimizing cycle times and throughput. 5.Safety System Implementation: Oversee and approve the design and implementation of safety systems, including interlocks, light curtains, emergency stops, and safety PLC logic, to ensure compliance with relevant safety standards (example: ISO 13849 or ANSI B11). Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate safety measures to protect personnel and equipment. 6.Data Acquisition and Analysis: Configure data acquisition systems to collect real-time process data, such as press force, temperature, and part dimensions, for quality control and performance monitoring. Analyze collected data using statistical methods and data visualization tools to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process optimization and predictive maintenance. 7.Commissioning and Testing: Lead the commissioning process for the automated press line, conducting functional testing, loop checks, and system integration tests to verify proper operation and performance. Collaborate with equipment suppliers, technicians, and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and resolve any issues encountered during commissioning and startup. Develop and execute detailed buy criteria (check lists) and procedures to ensure the complete system is fully commissioned and all requirements met. Ensure all documentation as built and validated. 8.Training and Documentation: Provide training to operators, maintenance technicians, and other relevant personnel on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the automated press line control systems. Develop comprehensive documentation, including operation manuals, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides, to support ongoing system maintenance and knowledge transfer. 9.Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to automation and controls engineering, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and advanced control strategies.
