The ideal candidate will protect clients, property, and personnel by maintaining a visible, armed presence and enforcing strict security protocols. This role involves working on rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure continuous protection and monitoring. The Armed Security Officer must be adept at responding to emergencies, controlling access, and handling potentially dangerous situations in compliance with company policies and state laws. Key Responsibilities: Patrol and Monitor Premises: Conduct regular patrols (on foot and/or by vehicle) of assigned areas to ensure the security of property and personnel. Monitor security cameras and alarm systems for any irregularities or security breaches. Carry and maintain a firearm as required, ensuring safe and responsible handling at all times. Be prepared to use force only when necessary and in line with company protocols and legal guidelines. Access Control: Manage and control access to facilities, verifying credentials, checking identification, and maintaining a log of visitors and employees. Prevent unauthorized entry into restricted areas. Respond to Emergencies: React swiftly to alarms, threats, and emergencies, including medical emergencies, fires, and security incidents. Contact law enforcement, fire departments, or emergency medical services when needed, and assist in evacuation or lockdown procedures. Accurately document any incidents, suspicious activities, or security violations in detailed reports. Report all emergencies and security issues to supervisors in a timely manner. Safety Inspections: Inspect and ensure the functionality of security systems, such as surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control devices. Regularly check doors, gates, and windows to verify they are properly locked and secure. Enforce Company Policies: Ensure compliance with company regulations, local laws, and security procedures. Implement safety protocols, crisis management plans, and emergency response actions. Provide Assistance and Customer Service: Assist clients, employees, and visitors with directions, information, and security concerns while maintaining a professional demeanor. De-escalate conflicts and resolve issues in a calm and authoritative manner. Collaboration with Law Enforcement: Work closely with local law enforcement agencies when necessary, providing assistance and cooperation during investigations or emergencies. Shift and Team Coordination: Maintain open communication with other security officers and management to ensure smooth handovers between shifts. Provide updates and reports to supervisors at the end of each shift. Qualifications: Must possess a valid armed security license and meet state requirements for firearms certification. Must have Grade E, C or D. Proven experience as an armed security officer or in a similar role. Strong knowledge of security procedures, surveillance systems, and crisis management. Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions in high-stress situations. Excellent observation skills and attention to detail. Physical fitness and ability to stand or patrol for extended periods. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
