Rosebank Junior School * *Suburb: RondeboschMedium: EnglishWe invite applications for the following post: MUSIC TEACHER SGB POST (PART-TIME)To drive the re-establishment of a strong music department, Rosebank Junior School seeks to appoint an energetic and motivated person as the MUSIC TEACHER with immediate effect.JOB CRITERIA AND QUALIFICATION INCLUDE:Professional teaching and music qualification – BMus (Ed)Knowledge of the National Curriculum (CAPS)Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in playing the pianoAptitude for playing additional instruments will be an advantageRESPONSIBILITIES:The incumbent will be responsible for the management and coordination of the music for all classes, Grade 1 – 7. The successful candidate must:Have a passion for teaching class music and a passion for childrenBe able to conduct junior and senior choirBe a team playerHave well-developed inter-personal skillsEmbrace the school’s obligations outside of school hours eg: concertsSKILLSPiano and voiceSecondary instruments, guitar, recorder, xylophoneMusical theory knowledgeGood work ethicReliable and trustworthyFriendly, positive attitudeStrong organization and multitaskingEXPERIENCE:Formulate and implement effective lesson plans focusing on principles of music, musicianship music theory and historyMaintain learners progress (Gr 1-7) by evaluating and adjusting strategiesOrganize special events, recitals participation in local music festivals and attendance of evaluatorsMaintain learner attendance records, development and other required recordsMaintain regular “office hours” to advise and assist learners between lessonsFoster fun, creativeand confident environment for music education and explorationA detailed CV along with covering letter, qualification, police clearance and the contact details of three referees (not older than 12 months) should be emailed to:vacancies@rosebankjunior.co.zaAn application will not in itself entitle the applicant to an interview or appointment.RJS, in line with POPIA (Protection of personal information Act) will attempt to ensure the confidentiality of all applicants for this role.
