Because we, as employees of SanlamAllianz, understand the importance of feeling cared for, empowered, challenged to produce our best work and live with confidence.The Head of Risk and Compliance: Anglophone (and Lusophone) will be responsible for building and maintaining a culture of compliance and risk management throughout SanlamAllianz and its subsidiaries in Anglophone and Lusophone countries, as well as assisting in the designing, management and execution of an efficient compliance and risk management program in these operating entities. In order to successfully achieve this, you will have to manage a team of senior risk and compliance managers, directly reporting to you, as well as a community of local risk and compliance correspondents within the SanlamAllianz’s operating entities in this region. As a team, you all have a key responsibility in managing the organisation’s obligations related to compliance and risk management in the Anglophone and Lusophone entities, but also assisting in doing so at SanlamAllianz level. In addition, the Head of Risk and Compliance: Anglophone (and Lusophone) must build strong relationships with the top management locally as well as the SanlamAllianz’s central departments to influence the culture of risk and compliance throughout the Group.What will make you successful in this role?• Manage the SanlamAllianz risk and compliance community by developing training initiatives and providing advice, regular communication, and guidance for staff in various SAZ entities as required, inclusive of newsletters, conferences, and forums.• Aid in the implementation and improvement of processes and tools to monitor, analyse, and report on key risk/compliance issues and projects (AML/CFT; data privacy, 3rd party risk management, etc.)• Be pro-active in identifying and reporting on material risks and any changes to legislation and other regulatory requirements relating to SanlamAllianz entities, the risk of non-compliance and expected controls relating to these.• Provide oversight to the SanlamAllianz entities, with a focus on the monitoring of compliance, risk management and the adequacy and effectiveness of controls.• Provide relevant compliance and risk reporting on time and the escalation of material compliance, and risk incidents.• Collaborate with the rest of the GRC team and other stakeholders to ensure proper alignment of initiatives across the cluster, inclusive of technology solutions that are rolled out.• Engage with the Sanlam Group office on various risk and compliance initiatives that span the Sanlam group.Qualification and Experience• Post Graduate Qualification in Law or Commerce• At least 10 years Compliance and/or Risk Management Related Experience. • Experience in Audit as well would be advantageous.Knowledge and Skills• Understanding and expert knowledge of legislation, regulations and legal principles applicable to the financial services industry and the associated risks.• Expert knowledge of risk management requirements, methodologies and principles applicable to the financial services industry.• Expert knowledge of compliance risk and compliance principles and standards within South Africa and internationally.• Ability to manage teams across different countries and effectively build relationship networks.• Cultivates Innovation, Adaptability• Planning and Organising• Ability to manage complexity. • Mature outlook and upholds high standards of professional integrity.• Willingness to travelCore CompetenciesBuild a successful career with usWe’re all about building strong, lasting relationships with our employees.
