Professional Full-Time EngineeringMED Power Plant Solutions is the department accountable for value engineering, contractual risk management, execution & product management on grid connection & plant control solutions in Vestas power plants along the full project value chain (Development, Sales, Construction and Service stages) in Mediterranean Region, including South European, African, Middle Eastern countries.ResponsibilitiesGrid Connection Codes scouting & interpretations and pro-active communication with Transmission Operators in Southern & Eastern Africa's countries with special focus on South AfricaInput Grid related market requirements to Vestas R&D ensuring future compliance and consistency of Plant offeringsProvide technical support to Sales Dept. during contract negotiation and bid definition in relation to electrical and grid requirements in order to comply with the applicable standards and technical specifications of the customerParticipation in team selling approach and building value in each individual project and different customer profilesTechnical review of the customers' tender documentation and related risk mitigation on project specific basisDrive business case optimization and value engineering initiatives for Grid Plant offeringsContractual Annex preparationProvide technical support to the project execution and commissioning in relation to the electrical and grid requirements specific of the project and to the design, implementation and testing of wind power plant control solutions:Coordinate and support activities with the internal stakeholders on plant electrical model implementation and validationCoordinate and support activities with the internal stakeholders on electrical simulation studies to define the wind power plant performance according to site specific grid conditions and requirementsPrepare site specific functional design specification for the park level controller and wind turbine generators based on grid requirements and simulation studiesPrepare project specific grid compliance test plan noting the requirements, and with an understanding of plant limitationsEngage power systems engineering consultancies when requiredProvide technical support to customers, contractors, grid operators & utilities (ESKOM, RETEC), in relation to wind power technology performance and capabilities to ensure their integration into plant design and system interconnection.QualificationsM.Sc. or B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems5+ years of relevant work experience on grid connection of Renewable power plants from Wind or PV Industry or from System Operators (like ESKOM and RETEC)Knowledge about wind power technology (electrical design and control of WTGs and PPC)Knowledge about electrical simulation SW like Power FactoryKnowledge about electrical simulation SW like PSCAD, or open modelling libraries and tools will be advantageousKnowledge about ESKOM grid connection code requirements & processKnowledge about power system stability, control and analysisKnowledge about Power Quality assessmentKnowledge about HV, MV equipment and Substation designKnowledge about Energy Market in South Africa will be an assetEnglish language, both written and spokenCompetenciesAbility to work with no supervision with an international team and to establish good team working relations is essentialTeam spiritAbility to reallocate and adjust priorities in a fast-changing environmentExcellent communication and presentation skillsConfidence talking with and presenting to external stakeholders (customers, grid operators, conferences)Excellent technical skills with emphasis on problem-solvingAbility to summarize technical topics for non-technical stakeholdersCreative solution finding and high degree of motivation to satisfy customer needsExcellent collaboration skillsHighly structured and well organizedGood travel disposition (about % of time) in support of customer needs and overall business objectives in MED areaWhat We OfferAn opportunity to grow and to be part of a large multinational organization pursuing the vision of being the global leader in sustainable energy solutions.
