You'll work closely with maintenance and production teams to ensure the efficiency and quality of manufacturing processes.Duties & ResponsibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES Ensure that tooling is serviced and set up to the correct specification, available for production with all necessary equipment and fittings in line with planning requirements. Perform preventative maintenance on tool and dies. Troubleshoot issues with tool and dies to ensure production needs are met. Maintain and upgrade fixtures and gages. Leads employees in good die maintenance and build practices. Instructs in general machining practices. Makes decisions and judgements about proper course of action for repairs and maintenance. Maintains good safety and housekeeping practices. Demonstrates good short- and long-term decision making and trouble shooting skills, tool room machining practices, safety, diagnosis of problems and course of action, and tool room repair and maintenance work. Responsible for providing and implementing process improvement ideas. Promotes teamwork and shows a willingness to work well in other departments. Demonstrates good work planning practices to do jobs in a very timely, efficient and safe manner. Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the Factory/position Respond to call outs after hours . Work nightshift when required Work overtime when required KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Develop blueprints and technical drawings for tools, dies, moulds, and fixtures based on engineering specifications. Utilize various machine tools and equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines to fabricate tools with precision. Choose appropriate materials for tool fabrication based on factors like durability, heat resistance, and costeffectiveness. Conduct thorough inspections and testing of finished tools to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tools to prolong their lifespan and optimize performance. Work closely with maintenance and production personnel to understand their requirements and provide technical support. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of more efficient tooling solutions. Required SkillsTool & DieDesired Experience & QualificationREQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATION and WORK EXPERIENCE: Matric / Grade 12 Qualified Tool- and Die Maker (Olifantsfontein Qualification) Red Seal Minimum 10 years experience in the factory environment (Preferably Steel) Work from blue prints, shop drawings and sketches Work independently with little direction Working with various machines, lathes, milling machines, surface grinders to machine parts to specifications Verifies dimensions, alignments and clearances Sharpening of various equipment, die sets, cut off tools, stamping and punching tools Valid Drivers Licence Own reliable vehicle TECHNICAL COMPETENCE: Inspect, maintain, repair and overhaul various tool and die sets Using a variety of test equipment, meters, powered and non powered tools and equipment Install and develop new tool and die sets Measures, marks and scribes metal stock for machining Must be able to use his own initiative General maintenance Service equipment (Maintenance schedules and preventative) Order raw materials Awareness and advises employer of any hazard in factory environment BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCE: Adhering to all work-site safety rules and regulations. Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines.
