Oversee, maintain and manage the eThekwini Municipalities continuous and non-continuous ambient air quality monitoring network and fulfil local and national norms, standards and guidelines for air quality monitoring systems. Key Responsibility Areas • Oversee the implementation of methodologies, policies, systems and procedures for the Municipality continuous and non-continuous ambient air quality monitoring systems. • Lead the coordination of the air quality data acquisition system and its related databases, procedures and regulatory frameworks. • Provide advice on technical matters of air quality monitoring. • Performing an administrative and financial control function related to the management of an air quality monitoring network. • Human capital development. • Performance and personnel management. • Organisational Awareness- The ability to understand the Municipality’s objectives, and the impact of decisions on the community and the functioning of the department. • Financial Management- Drives optimisation of financial management of the municipality through use of standard operating procedure. • Strategy Development and Implementation- Ability to do long-term planning and execute the expected activities. • Stakeholder Management- Manages the interface and relationship with key stakeholders in support of meeting objectives. • Air Quality Management- The ability to manage legislative requirements and compliance matters in relation to air quality. • Compliance and Enforcement- The ability to follow processes, conclude investigations and generate compliance notices and documentation to ensure enforcement of relevant legislation. • Communication- The ability to listen attentively, grasp issues, present information in a clear manner, respond appropriately to verbal and written communication of others. • Service Delivery Orientation- The ability to explore and implement new innovative strategies to deliver services that contributes to the improvement of the municipal processes in order to achieve municipal goals. • Customer Orientation and Customer Focus- Understands the service needs of clients / customers (internal and external) and actively focuses on anticipating, meeting and exceeding the needs in a timely and appropriate manner. • Action and Outcome Orientation- The display of high work ethic in setting and achieving challenging goals, meeting deadlines and keeping promises. It manifests itself in one’s ability to stay focused on task, to be energetic, persistent and reliable. • Impact and Influence- The ability to inspire a positive attitude in others and be able to influence others effectively. • Direction Setting- Determines and articulate the Vision, sets the direction for the organisation and / or unit and inspires others to deliver on the organisational mandate. • Relevant tertiary qualification (i.e Natural Science or Air Quality or Electronic). (NQF 6/7). • Valid motor vehicle driving license. • 4 Years experience in Air Quality Management Preferred Requirements • Relevant post graduate qualification (NQF Level 8) • 6 Years relevant experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr
