Job FunctionThe Air Freight SSA will be responsible for building Air Product within the SSA region to support and grow the Air Freight service offering to/from Sub-Saharan Africa. This role will be responsible for the strategy and solution design within Air Freight in SSA, rollout and implementation of global strategies and uniform controls into the regions countries, implementation of global carrier strategies within the regions countries, negotiating and managing regional carrier service contracts and volume incentive discounts, providing market analysis and directional change as required, and risk mitigation. Close collaboration with the Commercial and Trade Lane teams is required to build the best possible products and solutions to support regional growth. Key Performance AreasDevelop and execute a comprehensive plan and strategy for Air Freight within SSA region Rollout and implement global Air Freight strategies and volume commitments to the region’s countries, to achieve the agreed regional volume commitments Setting country specific KPI’s, goals and objectives, and monitoring and measuring same Rollout and implement uniform processes and controls across the region’s countries, aligned to global Air product guidelines Provide strategic planning and participation in service contract negotiations with carriers, international partners and other related service providers Formulate pricing strategies in conjunction with the business, ie.; peak periods Build close co-operation between Product, Operations, Commercial and Trade Lane, and collaborate with all stakeholders to expand Air Freight solutions offering in SSA to achieve regional goals and objectives Support in-country Air Freight Operations and Product within the SSA region Support Commercial teams with tender requirements and required solutions to win business Support global forwarding tariff negotiations with Network and Agents Monitor and communicate global economic factors influencing product & carrier management Management and implementation of the governance, enforcing best practice within the business, ensuring preferred carrier support and operational excellence, with focus on continuous improvement Monthly reporting on product development in key routes/trades, volume growth, margin gains, etc. Perform other related duties as assigned Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviors in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies. Qualifications Degree, diploma or equivalent related qualifications for Freight Forwarding and logistics Experience Minimum >8 years’ experience within the freight forwarding, logistics or transport industry Minimum >5 years’ experience in senior Freight Forwarding managerial positions, leading and managing teams Working in the same/similar role in Africa Experience in the Freight Forwarding industry across multiple modes; Air, Ocean, Road, etc (advantageous)Geographical and knowledge, ability to interface and communicate with different cultures (advantageous)About DP WorldTrade is the lifeblood of the global economy, creating opportunities and improving the quality of life for people around the world.
