ROLE SUMMARY We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Academic Dean to join our team. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Academic Dean will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of the institution. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned academic leader to contribute to the growth and success of our institute. As Academic Dean, your focus would be to: Lead the academic affairs of the institution, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals and objectives Oversee the development and implementation of academic plans and initiatives Manage the undergraduate and postgraduate offering of the School of Education, including curriculum development, staff recruitment and student engagement initiatives Drive the expansion of our postgraduate offerings in education, contributing to our commitment to academic excellence and innovation Provide strategic guidance and support to staff members, fostering a culture of collaboration, academic rigor and continuous improvement Ensure compliance with Higher Education regulatory framework, including quality assurance, accreditation and review processes for learning programs Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance our reputation and academic standing within the Higher Education community Manage the integrity and quality of the institutional academic offering Proactively manage the key roles and functions within the Academic Division, such as the Heads of Departments, Research and Online Pedagogy staff, as well a fulfilling an oversight role of the entire academic division Manage the institutional quality assurance and enhancement process regarding: o Programme design and development (Undergraduate and postgraduate) o Teaching and Learning o Course and module design o Online/distance teaching and learning pedagogies MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS A relevant doctoral degree in education or cognate equivalent Extensive experience in Higher Education, with a focus on teacher education and academic leadership Proven record of accomplishment in managing undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education programmes Strong understanding of management principles and practices within an academic context Proven leadership experience within the education sector Thorough knowledge of the Higher Education regulatory framework, quality assurance standards, and accreditation processes Proven experience in directing-and-managing an academic division, from strategy development to implementation, with oversight of operational matters ADDITIONAL Leadership experience in an online Higher Education setting Financial leadership skills within Higher Education, including budget development/management and resource allocation Proven experience as a fair yet firm performance manager Experience in fostering research and professional activity among staff/subordinates SKILLS Excellent technology skills and experience with learning management systems or education technology Effective organisational and planning skills Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills Leadership, conflict management and performance management skills LOCATION TOGI’s offices are in Cape Town, South Africa. This role is office-based, with our lecturers operating remotely from various parts of the country.
