KEY ROLE: WSP South Africa is looking for an experienced and passionate Registered Professional Civil Engineer with road design experience who will function as a senior design engineer and project manager for municipal infrastructure projects in South Africa and also able to support the international business as required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Design of municipal roads using Civil3D; Project management and interfacing with other engineering disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects Provide technical input from initial assessment through technical and economic feasibility to design development and construction implementation to project close out Carry out investigations, surveys, design, engineering calculations and preparation of working drawings and estimates Review overall project design and suggest technical and design improvements Assist with the preparation of cost estimates on project designs Keep up to date with industry advances, and be aware of policy and technical developments in this discipline Review technical submissions, assessing technical risks and proposing mitigation strategies to reduce risk exposure in project Assist with and/or conduct any other necessary aspects of a project that fall within the discipline of the role. Monitoring project construction and acceptance including site visits and commissioning supervision; and Detail oriented with strong skills in municipal Infrastructure and roads Ability to work in a team environment and must have excellent verbal and written skills Undertake and lead team to execute civil engineering design tasks as part of project development Client liaison and project management HEALTH AND SAFETY: Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behavior consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm Embracing, displaying and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times ETHICS Adhere to the highest standards of ethical behaviour aligned with the WSP company policies QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: B Tech / BEng or BSc Civil Engineering Professional Registration (PrEng/ Pr Tech Eng) 5 - 8 years’ experience in design engineering Extensive experience with the Civil 3D Suite Proven competence in Civil infrastructure Engineering Design including Roads and Geometric Design Experience with Resources and municipal clients KEY COMPETENCIES AND GENERIC SKILLS: Good problem solving abilities and analytical skills Strong technical skills Confidence in own abilities and decision-making Excellent verbal and written skills Technical report writing Strong (proven) management and interpersonal skills Self-training ability, with an affinity to learn new design technologies Self-motivated and a driver Strong (proven) track record of work-winning What if we can have work-life balance?
