The purpose of the role is to ensure the company complies with external regulatory and legal requirements, as well as internal policies and procedures. This includes identifying Environmental, Social and Governance risks and advising the company on how to avoid or address these risks. A key aspect of this role is upholding the organisation's ethical integrity and ensuring that business activities are conducted using ethical practices. The Risk and Compliance Manager will introduce standards, methodologies and best practices relevant to the sector and participate in strategic project management for the organisation. Responsibilities will include monitoring, performance auditing, reporting on active projects and portfolios and providing progress updates to senior management for strategic decisions. The degree of control and influence the Risk and Compliance Manager will have on projects can be defined as: Supportive, with a consultative role Controlling, by requiring compliance Enabling, by creating an environment for best practices Responsibilities: Identify and review legal, regulatory, financial, operational, strategic, social, environmental and governance risks to the organisation. Develop and maintain country-specific legal registers. Review and update the corporate risk register, and develop and maintain park/department-specific risk registers. Develop risk mitigation strategies by creating policies, procedures, best practices and standards. Formulate policies and procedures through the development of a Standards of Business Conduct manual for the organisation. Promote ethical business practices through the implementation of policies and procedures. Risk Awareness and Training Roll out and train staff on risk mitigation activities. Coordinate institutional risk management learning and drive innovation in best practices. Provide tactical support to foster a culture of continual improvement, learning and sharing of risk management and environmental and social safeguarding best practices within the company. Risk Verification and Compliance Oversee and expand the organisation's compliance programme. Verify compliance through the implementation of a compliance programme. Coordinate the METT audit process across all parks. Facilitate the serious incident management process and conduct incident reviews. Establish park-specific grievance redress mechanisms and conduct monthly reviews. Conduct monthly reviews of the external whistleblowing mechanism. Manage and oversee corporate policy implementation. Risk and Compliance Reporting Create risk and compliance awareness by reporting on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risks through: Audit and Risk Committee reports Quarterly EXCO and Board reports Monthly CEO reports Management Committee meetings to verify compliance through the implementation of a compliance programme Environmental and Social Safeguarding Lead the integration and support the implementation of ESSG. Provide oversight of the Environmental and Social Management System, adhering to World Bank, IUCN, and IFC best practices. Requirements Relevant Business Degree 10 years of experience in a similar role (with at least 4 years in management) Knowledge of the conservation industry Professional proficiency in English Financial and budget management skills Strong negotiating and analytical skills Excellent interpersonal communication skills #J-18808-Ljbffr
