An intermediate skilled Creative Designer is sought by a leading communications company to be based in their office in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.JOB SUMMARYThe Designer is responsible for creating original design concepts as well as the typesetting and roll-out thereof for financial print and digital mediums within the negotiated timelines. The Designer communicates with the Traffic Manager (TM) on all projects as required and stipulated in the brief. All DTP/Design workflow is managed by the TM. The Designer reports to the TM but this may change depending on organisational needs.ABOUT OUR CLIENTOur client is a reputable and market leading stakeholder communications company specialising in financial reporting offering design, writing, project management and logistical services.THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTIn order to be shortlisted for vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:-Relevant Graphic design degree or Typography diploma2 to 3 years’ experience gained in a similar position, as well as typesetting experiencePrevious experience gained in an advertising or marketing agency, or within a large corporate environmentPortfolio demonstrating creative and innovative designWorking knowledge of printing and production processesMicrosoft Windows: Advanced Level: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPointAdvanced levels of Mac: Adobe CC suite, Illustrator, InDesign and PhotoshopOwn reliable transport and ability to work after hours, travel and work on site at clients is requiredJOB DESCRIPTIONThe role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:-Customer focus: Responsible for original, innovative creative design of a relevant concept for print, online reports and all digital mediumsEnsure that concepts meet the requirements of the design brief, all designs are reviewed by the AD and key personnel as well as being completed in full and on time with supporting rationales and researchEnsure that the quality of each design meets stakeholder expectationsProactively escalate any potential challenges or any technical aspects to TM, AD and Project ManagerAbility to do accurate typesetting and ensure exceptional quality when typesetting (not financials)Ensure TM, AD and relevant internal staff are informed of progress and solutions to problemsWorkflow process: Follow the procedures according to the workflow process and suggest process improvementsEnsure that the stylesheets are created according to the approved designPerform regular quality checks on product during production prior to printing /go live of reportPeople: Provide direction and support to internal production teamAttend internal meetings as required by the workflow process −Administration: Ensure that company rules wrt to house corrections (etc.) and brief instructions are followedHouse corrections are kept below 10% of the actual hours spent on the jobAccurate daily recording of time with details worked on projectsData management and archiving of jobs and studio library −Relationships: Build constructive relationships within the team and across the businessCollaborate with stakeholders to deliver seamless integrated quality products to clientsResponsible for overall quality output of productsPlease be advised that only shortlisted candidates that have the specific skills and experiences required to fulfil the responsibilities of the role will be contacted for an interview by one of our consultants.
