Main Purpose Capitec Bank is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Head of Enterprise Risk Management. This pivotal position requires accountability for the development and application of Capitec's Enterprise Risk Management framework and associated policies and procedures in line with industry best practices. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing key insights into enterprise risk to inform Capitec group strategy. Leading the Enterprise Risk Management department, the incumbent will be responsible for crafting departmental strategy, ensuring optimal performance through meticulous business planning, budgeting, goal setting, and adherence to rigorous standards and processes. Scope of role entails: Develop, drive, coordinate and embed an enterprise risk management framework. Implement robust, structured, and explicit risk management practices anchored around a central established ERM framework across Capitec. Embed existing, new and/or updated ERM principles and capabilities across Capitec with the aim to build up “a culture of risk” and embed risk management awareness and consistent practices. Serve as the custodian and overseer of ERM across the group by driving consistency and alignment of practices across the various multidisciplinary risk types including operational risk, credit risk, market risk and technology risk. Re sponsible for managing enterprise risk according to internal and external benchmarks as well as ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. Work closely with the CRO to plan initiatives that will mature Capitec’s risk programme. Drive ERM objectives including capital management, scenario planning, appetite setting and risk reporting. Stakeholder engagement and general department management Support the CRO, the Risk and Capital Management Committee, the Audit Committee and Social, Ethics, and Sustainability Committee Represent the function at the Group, Retail Bank and Business Bank Executive Committees when required. Engagement with external stakeholders which include but are not limited to the SARB Prudential Authority, FSCA, BASA, ESG ratings agencies, etc. Accountable for the effective leadership, oversight and overall management and performance of the enterprise risk department: Stakeholder and relationship management and communication, work cross functionally and network both internally and externally to ensure a relevant network which will enable and enhance the operation of the department. Prepare, propose, manage, and deliver the annual budget for enterprise risk and management reporting for the risk function. Leadership of the enterprise risk management team Establish and embed an effective people structure (as well any external / co-sourced teams, technology, systems, tools) to optimise delivery of the business plan, goals, and targets. Ensure appropriate recruitment, development, management, goal planning and performance of people across the department. Manage and evaluate the enterprise risk management team, identify improvement opportunities, ensure succession planning, and drive performance from the team. Department function/technical specific/responsibilities Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of potential risks, both internal and external Developing, implementing, and evolving the ERM Framework including effective governance, independence, culture, risk identification and control. Design, implementation and ongoing evolution of ERM, Risk Appetite and Operational Risk Management Frameworks. Assess, and monitor enterprise risks, including strategic, operational, financial, and reputational risks. Assess and analyse emerging risks and evaluate their potential impact. Develop and implement risk management strategies and policies to mitigate identified risks. Collaborate with function heads and risk owners to ensure that risk mitigation plans are effectively executed. Review and provide independent challenge on risks and associated risk mitigation action plans. Prepare regular risk reports for the CRO and relevant Committees. Capture and track and reporting on risk mitigation. Analysis and expertise on risk issues by presenting data and information in a meaningful format to be actioned and to support decision making. Prepare, review, and ensure all risk reports are delivered in a timely fashion. Our ideal candidate has: 1 0yrs+ experience in enterprise risk management overseeing a segment or division within financial services. Proven experience in engaging and providing integrated/enterprise risk management guidance on an executive level. Experience in compiling a sustainability strategy and driving the implementation and operationalisation thereof. Your above experience is supported by: Relevant degree in Finance / Commerce (e.g., B.
