The Mountain Geologist is the quarterly peer-reviewed journal published by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists (RMAG). Issues are published digitally online in January, April, July and October of each year. The Mountain Geologist circulates to more than1800 members of the RMAG and about 200 university and government libraries and industry associations. The Mountain Geologist assigns a digital object identifier (DOI) to published articles registered through CrossRef to provide a persistent link on the internet to their location and to maximize exposure to the scientific community. The Mountain Geologist is a regionally oriented publication and generally focuses on the geology of the greater Rocky Mountain area of North America. Areas covered range from West Texas and New Mexico to northern British Columbia, as well as the Great Plains and Mid-Continent region. Other topics from outside the region that are of interest to the readership or bear on geoscience issues relating to those in the greater Rocky Mountain area will also be considered. The range of topics presented in The Mountain Geologist covers almost every sub-discipline in the geosciences, including environmental geology and geomorphology, geochemistry, geophysics, hydrogeology, mining, petroleum geology, paleontology, petrology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and more.
