Main purpose of the job:To assist the registered nurse/s in the performance of their duties ensuring GCP and SOP adherenceLocation:PHRU - Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto - JohannesburgKey performance areas:Recruit and be able to engage with DoH stakeholdersTB treatment, administration, supervision, and education thereofResponsible for driving potential participants to study, conducting home visits as per protocolSpecimen collections and other samples as per protocolAdminister study treatment for enrolled participantsCheck vital signs on all visiting participants and record vital signs and observations of participants in the source document/Case Referral Form for each visiting participantConduct Phlebotomy according to protocol (study-specific)Collect study medications from pharmacy and issue to patient providing patient education on adherenceCall participants who have abnormal test results and arrange for the respective tests to be repeatedEnsure that screening, consenting, and enrolment of participants take place in line with project protocolEscort participant referred to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for admissionEnsure that participants are nebulized in line with good clinical practices when required to or requested by a medical officerPerform Adherence/Infant Feeding/Prevention counseling to participants as requiredEducate participants regarding project aims and informationInduce sputum as per protocol and SOP if requiredConduct both physical and clinical observation on all visiting participants during each study visitCollect petty cash daily during the stipulated time frame from finance and issue travel reimbursements to participants who qualify for reimbursement in line with company petty cash regulationsEnsure that the petty cash reimbursement form is completed, and the required signatures are obtained dailyEnsure that the reimbursement form is signed by the participant as an acknowledgment of the amount receivedEnsure that the reimbursement form is completed in full i.e. the full name of the participant, the participant number, the amount received, and the signatureCapture the reimbursement daily on the spreadsheet provided by FinanceReconcile the petty cash used against the petty cash received daily within the timelines of financeEnsure that any unused petty cash is taken back to finance before the close of business dailyEnsure that invoices for any purchases are submitted to finance following the correct process within 48 hours of receipt thereofComplete the Case Referral Form at the time of participant visit for each participant visitTrack all “lost to follow-up” participants using post, telephone, or home visitEnsure that Case Referral Forms are DATAFAX and filed in participant files dailyLog any lab results onto the system once in receipt thereof on the study-specific system dailyOrder stationery for the project in line with the project’s procurement process on at least a monthly basisComplete documentation regarding HTC (HIV Testing and Counselling)Required minimum education and training:Qualified as an Enrolled NurseValid Driver’s Licence with PDPRequired minimum work experience:2 years post Nursing qualification experience2 years of research experience in TB and HIV managementPhlebotomyProfessional Body Registration:Registered with the South African Nursing CouncilDesirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:GCP CertificationAbility to multitaskAbility to work under pressureComputer literacyAbility to lead work independently as well as be part of a multidisciplinary teamFlexible to adapt to changes in the study requirementsWilling to learnExpected to apply consistent adherence to research and GCP practicesTO APPLY:Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.Please Apply Online.Please take note that the applicants who do not adhere to the above criteria will not be considered for the respective position.The closing date for all applications: 10 May 2024.Note AJ Personnel is fully POPI compliant.Note WHC, in accordance with their Employment Equity goals and plan, will give preference to suitable applicants from designated groups as defined in the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998 and subsequent amendments thereto.Please note:AJ PERSONNEL is only responsible for the advertising of the advertisement on behalf of their client Wits Health Consortium.Wits Health Consortium will only respond to shortlisted candidates.
