Main purpose of the job:To screen, enroll, and follow up research study participants, conducting requisite sample and data collection as per protocol and Standard Operating Procedures and study targetsLocation:VIDA – Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital – Soweto, JohannesburgKey performance areas:Screen patients and patient files and identify potential patients for research studiesEnroll participants by educating them about the study and obtain informed consent according to SOPsCollaborate to meet study enrollment targets through dedication, solutions, teamwork, and effective, ethical participant engagement (must have insight into pregnancy, ante-natal care, and related challenges in postdelivery)Accurately complete relevant study documentation/questionnaires and checklistsEnsure the data collected is complete and free from errors through daily error checking.Perform vital signs and pregnancy testsDraw the necessary specimens including but not limited to blood, nasal swabs, oral swabs, capillary blood, and DBS, and send samples or specimens to the laboratory by study SOPsFollow up on lab resultsReport any abnormality in data collection to Study Coordinators or Medical OfficersCollect required data from participant medical records and other sourcesAccurately record and maintain recruitment plans, including screening and enrolment logs dailyComplete and file all relevant documentation (CRFs, source documents, etc.) in patient filesAccurately report on stats of participants recruited daily in the study electronic databaseAddress data queries and resolve them accordinglyAny other duties assigned in line with requirements for research studiesAvailability to work extra time as well as on weekends and public holidaysWork with minimum supervisionRequired minimum education and training:Certificate Enrolled Nursing (SANC registration)Demonstrable experience working in midwifery or with ante-natal clinics or programmesGood understanding of issues and challenges related to poor ANC attendanceValid driving licenseRequired minimum work experience:At least 2 years experience in a clinical research environmentDesirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:GCP training; computer literacy, including use of Microsoft (MS) Word and MS Excel beneficialAttention to detail, enthusiasm, hard-working; ability to work independently; good interpersonal and organisational skills, and ability to work in a team essentialFluency in at least one local language other than English or Afrikaans is essentialTO APPLY:Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.Please Apply Online.Please take note that the applicants who do not adhere to the above criteria will not be considered for the respective position.The closing date for all applications: 21 June 2024.Note AJ Personnel is fully POPI compliant.Note WHC, in accordance with their Employment Equity goals and plan, will give preference to suitable applicants from designated groups as defined in the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998 and subsequent amendments thereto.Please note:AJ PERSONNEL is only responsible for the advertising of the advertisement on behalf of their client Wits Health Consortium.Wits Health Consortium will only respond to shortlisted candidates.
