Our client is the leading manufacturer and supplier of tableware to the hospitality industry in North America, Europe, and Africa. The Sales Manager will be responsible for leading and driving the sales efforts to achieve the company’s revenue and growth objectives for Gauteng. This role involves managing a small sales team (currently 4, with plans to grow), strategizing to expand market share, and ensuring the profitability of sales operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales management, preferably within the hospitality supply chain or production/manufacturing sector, with strong business acumen and financial savvy. Key Responsibilities: Sales Strategy and Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to increase market share within the hospitality industry. Identify new business opportunities and channels for growth, particularly focusing on expanding the company’s footprint in the local market. Set and monitor sales targets, ensuring that the team meets or exceeds them. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a small sales team, fostering a high-performance culture. Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance the skills of the sales team. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback. Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients within the hospitality industry and industry distributors. Oversee the management of customer accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention. Resolve escalated customer issues in a timely and effective manner. Financial Management: Develop and manage the sales budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Analyze sales data and financial metrics to make informed decisions and adjustments to strategies. Work closely with the finance department/CEO to monitor pricing, profitability, and margin control. Market Analysis and Reporting: Conduct regular market analysis to identify trends, competitors, and potential areas for growth. Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and analyses to senior management. Stay updated on industry developments and adjust strategies as necessary. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with the production and operations teams to ensure that sales commitments are aligned with production capabilities. Work with the marketing department to develop campaigns and promotions that support sales efforts. Engage with the product development team to provide market feedback and suggest product improvements. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. Minimum of 7-10 years of sales experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role, preferably within the hospitality supply chain/manufacturing or a related industry. Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and growing market share. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a small team. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. High level of business acumen with a strong understanding of financial management principles. Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite. Key Competencies: Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies.
