Company Description Come and join this dedicated team as our Security Officer Operations. This is a team supervisory role and will be responsible for supervising and developing the team of Patrolpersons including Senior Patrolpersons, within an Anglo American Platinum Operation Anglo American is a global diversified mining business. Job Description Duties will include: Investigate crime and the transgression of standards and procedures Patrol and inspect all company property within delegated area of responsibility Ensure that all CIA procedures are understood and drills attended Continuously liaise with the Supervisor on security activities Ensure that safety and legal standards are adhered to in performing protection duties Ensure that operating standards and procedures are up to date and understood by the team Monitor and advise on the settings of monitoring equipment to optimize performance Monitor the process regularly to ensure conformance to and Good employee Public Relations understanding of security standards Administers security codes used in the facility Assist during emergencies and injuries to employees Control issuing and receiving of all security equipment to team Issue, receive and register all equipment in the department including firearms and specialist security equipment Ensure that materials, resources and equipment are available and in working order for the teams requirements before shifts Conducts inventory and stock checks at different security points on a monthly basis Drive security vehicles effectively and safely Ensure that the protection initiatives facilitates the need of the Operation Communicate problems to Supervisor Compile accurate security reports including incident and investigation reports Allocate required job instructions to employees Maintain applicable Safety, Regulations, Legislation, Codes of practice and standards appropriate to systems Complete applicable safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports for area Conduct and/or participate in required meetings Ensure that accurate labour records including overtime worked are maintained for the team where applicable Support the protection of assets in high risk situations such as during Industrial action and emergencies Prepare ad-hoc reports for management or other information customers Complete regular audits and observations required in the Unit Ensure all reports are submitted to relevant superiors Ensure that system administration requirements are complied with Ensure that investigation information is accurate and secure Ensures that all tasks and duties and subordinate tasks and duties are done, as prescribed and in accordance with standard procedures and in a confidential manner Act as a witness when called upon in criminal and disciplinary cases Effective liaison with Protection Services specialists and SAP Document and report all disciplinary actions taken Regularly check reports for any irregularities and disturbances and report on that Good employee Public Relations Effective two way open communication with employees in team Develop a trusting and mutual respect relationship with the roles stakeholders Support and participate in the training and development requirements of employees Ensure that employees have clear work allocations, plans and instructions Communicate effectively with Protection Services Superintendent Support the induction of new employees Support disciplinary and grievance inquiries Identify potential conflict situations and minimize the implications Control discipline and ensure fair decisions regarding ER policy Ensure competency of employees in team for the work required Control shift rosters, to ensure the area is adequately resourced Testify in criminal court/CCMA Relation with general public Perform CIA duties as required Ensure VIP protection and escorts Support efforts to overcome operational problems Identify risks and threats to the process/functions proactively Cultivate necessary information sources and gather relevant information Support of HR initiatives and participate in meetings and seminars Forward complaints and recommendations to security manager This role is at a C4 level reporting to the PS Superintendent / PS Senior Superintendent Qualifications Grade 12 (RPL can be applied to recognize skills obtained through short courses and experience) Registered with PSIRA Grade A Applicable firearm Unit Standard qualifications Armed response qualification Tactical Unit Standard Qualification Valid driving license code 08/10/14 PRE-REQUISITE Psychometric Assessment for firearms Firearm Competency No criminal record Pass polygraph test EXPERIENCE Minimum 4 years experience in Security or equivalent environment 2 years experience in supervisory position Additional Information What we offer When you join Anglo American you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package, but more than this, you’ll find yourself in an environment where the opportunities for learning and growth are second to none.
