Position Purpose To leverage their programming skills to develop automated systems that helps the organisation improve business operations. To manage all data collected and stored within the organisation to be able to find relationships between entities and to create viewpoints for data visualisation. The analysis of the data to respond to queries, identifying trends, and to make use of the data for the betterment of the organisation by turning raw data into information and insights which can be used for business decision making. 1 Using specialised tools to extract data from source systems2 Removing corrupted data and fixing coding errors and related problems3 Developing and maintaining datastores, data systems – reorganizing data ina readable format4 Performing analysis to assess quality and meaning of data5 Filter Data by reviewing reports and performance indicators to identify andcorrect code problems6 Using statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trendsin complex data sets that could be helpful for the diagnosis and prediction 7 Assigning numerical value to essential business functions so that businessperformance can be assessed and compared over periods of time8 Analyzing local, national, and global trends that impact both theorganization and the industry9 Preparing reports for management stating trends, patterns, and predictionsusing relevant data10 Working with developers, data analysts/engineers, business SME’s andmanagement heads to identify process improvement opportunities, proposesystem modifications, and devise data governance strategies11 Preparing analysis reports and visualisation trends for the stakeholders tounderstand the data-analysis steps, enabling them to take importantdecisions based on various facts and trends.12 Respond to data-related queries and keep track of the data sources, queriesand storage within the data warehouse13 Setting up processes and systems to make working with data more efficient14 Cleansing of data 15 Work within or co-create the data governance strategy16 Integrate the outcomes as real-time analytics to elevate TPT’s ability tocreate value for stakeholders in various areas and through means notimmediately apparent to them.17 Share knowledge and develop staff capacities to strengthen understandingof best practices in technology and stay current with industry trends18 Develop relationships with business stakeholders to be viewed as a trustedadvisor19 Identify and develop Predictive and Prescriptive Models to enable betterdecision making for our stakeholders20 Participate in analysis and design sessions – work with Enterprise Architectsand Business Analysts to determine the best fit solution for our clients21 Design, develop and maintain ETL/ELT routines and other data pipelinetasks as part of the solution delivery to business22 Design, develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Transnetapproved standards and technologies 23 Contribute to the development of requirements specifications andarchitectural specifications for business intelligence/data analytics solutions24 Compile and maintain all business intelligence/data analytics documentationas part of solution delivery Qualifications and Experience • Relevant Qualification / National Diplôma, B-Degree/ B-Tech (NQF level 6/7)related to ICT/Mathematics/Data Science/ Engineering field/ComputerScience• 5 years Data Analytics/ Data modelling/ Reporting experience• 1 year supervisory or specialist experience• 1-2 years’ experience in tools such as R, SQL and Python would be anadvantage• Advantageous: Transnet leadership Development ProgrammeNumber of years with lower level certificates/qualification• NQF Level 5 Certificate (120 credits)• 6 years Data Analytics/ Data modelling/ Reporting experience• 1 year supervisory or specialist experience• 1-2 years’ experience in tools such as R, SQL and Python would be anadvantage• Advantageous: Transnet leadership Development Programme • Competencies Required:1.
