Johannesburg, South Africa | Posted on 05/10/2024 · The Data Engineer will be responsible fortransforming data into actionable insight using the Microsoft SQL tech stack ofBusiness Intelligence products. · This will be a collaborative role that will beresponsible for delivering the full stack in the BI solution from the businessrequirements gathering, solutions architecture, data models to the semanticmodels and the reports themselves. · Should be able to design and develop end toend BI Solutions. · Be able to do gap and impact analysis on therequirement. · Accept coaching and mentoring from fellowdevelopers/architects. · Complete documentation of BI requirements anddevelopment according to Hollard standards. · Provide support to business on existingprojects. · Assist business users in acquiring access toreports/databases. · Responsible for the design and implementationof effective cross-functional business intelligence systems and processes. · Translate business and technical requirementsinto efficient sustainable BI solutions. · This will be a dynamic role where you will bean integral member of a small team building an end-to-end business intelligencesolution. · This person should be very analytical with aneven mix of business acumen and technical capability. · The Data Engineer will be responsible forworking with analysts, managers, and executives to understand business needsand working with source owners and BI teams to understand the data sources. · Participate in analysis and designsessions. · Communicate progress with business users andproject teams. · Elicit requirements for ad-hoc data requests,extract data from the various sources using SQL, and deliver request viavarious reporting tools. · Update and maintain ETL scripts written inSQL, which extract data from source systems and load the data warehouse. · Redesign and improvement of existingsolutions. · Analyse business requirements and translatethem into technical and system requirements to best satisfy these requirements. · Write and maintain technical documentation! · Develop end to end BI solutions. · Adhere BI SDLC and development methodologies. Requirements The successful candidate must have: · Tertiary qualifications with majors in atleast one of the following: Computer Science, Information Systems · +5 years’ experience working on Microsoft BI platform. · Familiar with Agile / Waterfall developmentmethodology · Exposure to Visual Studio and C#/VB.Net coding · SQL Server 2016+ highly recommended · Experience with relational databases · Exposure / Experience designing andimplementing dimensional modelling and data warehouses. · Extensive skills on ETL packages · Experience in using and writing complex MDXand DAX statements. · MS PowerBI stack highly recommended (PowerPivot, Power View and Power Query experience) · MDS “Master Data Service” development,maintenance, and deployment · SQL Server Jobs, Stored Procs, Views,Functions, Indexes, Table Value Functions, etc. · SQL performance tuning and enhancements Knowledgeto produce fully automated solutions with minimal human intervention required · Willingness to take ownership andaccountability · Building and maintain relationships · Have a collaborative mindset · Have a strategic mindset when designingsolutions that enable standardization and efficiency · Contribute to the success of the team;co-operate with other employees to improve personal and team performance · Team player&ability to work closely withothers · Be able to function independently should thatbe required · Passionate about BI and data integration · Committed, self-driven&highly motivatedindividual · Adaptable; be able to handle changeeffectively · Able to work by themselves and in a team · Experience working in anagile manner Abilityand willingness to work standby and / or weekends (if required) #J-18808-Ljbffr
