Howden Power, a Division of Howden Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for an experienced Applications Engineer responsible for the management and preparation of the tender process. Concept design of systems and solutions, focusing on process improvements, operating cost reduction and equipment retrofits. Pro-actively seek opportunities for value added engineering at various customer sites.What needs to be done?Key Account Management: Build and maintain relationships with key customersManaging Tenders: Efficient management and preparation of the tender process (enquiry, risks, contracts, costs and submission of documents) to be completed in line with client specifications and in accordance with Howden standards.Applications Engineering: Provide solutions to address customer process and applications needs. Carry out concept designs and process optimisation of air and gas handling systems / processes. Prepare proposals in accordance with client specifications and plant requirement.Commercial: Participate in negotiating commercial terms and conditions with clients to ensure that agreements with clients are reached within Howden’s acceptable commercial & risk management guidelines. Negotiate commercial terms & conditions with technology & licence suppliers to ensure that the terms agreed secure Howden’s business interests. Lead the handover of contracts to the Projects department.Marketing: Responsible for the effective marketing of company products and technologies to ensure the conversion of a tender into a sale conducted in accordance with company procedure.Technology: Learn the various Howden products and technologies to have a broad knowledge of our product offering for proposals to customers.Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls. Adhere to environmental, health and safety standards to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.What do you need to bring?BSc/ BEng /BTech Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.5 years engineering design experience within an industrial environment.3 years experience in a project management environment3 years experience in tender preparation and contract negotiations.Experience in power generation equipment (boilers, air-heaters, mills, etc.)Customer-facing experience and strong communication skills a must.Competent in visual training sessions (Internally and externally)Proficiency in MS Office.What will you get in return?You will have the opportunity to work for a global engineering organisation in a challenging and dynamic role with great career development opportunities.
