African Leadership Academy seeks to appoint a Senior Admissions Officer who will work on ALA’s identify pillar, building and enhancing relationships with prospective students across the continent and selecting the most promising youth leaders in Africa for our core two-year diploma program. The Senior Admissions Officer manages the end-to-end enrollment process at ALA; serving as the primary representative of ALA to stakeholders in East Africa, reading and reviewing applications against ALA’s selection criteria, and supporting the enrollment process for admitted students. ALA’s Admissions Team facilitates an application process that enables the Academy to identify each candidate’s leadership potential, with the goal of enrolling 130 students each year. Position Overview: Recruitment and Partnership Building Represent ALA to prospective students, parents, teachers, counselors and other individuals and organizations. Initiate, develop, and maintain existing relationships with stakeholders in East Africa, while proactively seeking to build new relationships with government offices, NGO’s, schools and all other such organizations that can boost the Academy’s recruitment efforts. Provide in-depth knowledge about ALA to various stakeholders, including admissions requirements, details of the two-year diploma program, post-ALA pathways, and more. Building a multi-year pipeline and manage applications deals and inbound inquiry about all ALA programs. Represent the Academy externally at partner events, in the media or at information sessions. Plan and implement recruitment activities, such as school visits, leadership accelerators, school fairs, and other recruitment events. Lead the Academy’s sales and recruitment activities in defined markets for the Global Scholars Program. Selection Conduct holistic and comprehensive review of applications, assessing intellectual readiness, courage&perseverance, ownership, and interdependence, while ensuring each application is reviewed in the context of an applicant’s experiences and background. Produce write-ups for each application and recommend next steps for the applicant to the Director of Enrollment Management. Lead the planning and execution of finalist activities, including interviews, written assessments, and finalist day activities, in collaboration with the Director of Enrollment Management, ensuring a seamless and effective selection process. Support admitted students and their families with visa documentation and financial aid explanations, ensuring a seamless transition from admissions to student life. Strategic Goals and Regional Growth Develop and execute strategic initiatives aimed at increasing the visibility and attractiveness of ALA within the region, targeting key outcomes such as growth in application numbers and enrollments. Monitor and adapt strategies based on regional trends and feedback to ensure the effectiveness of ALA’s outreach and engagement efforts to fulfill enrollment goals. Ideal Candidate: A university degree. Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience in admissions, recruitment, sales, and marketing. A growth mind-set&a commitment to delivering ALA's mission to identify, develop&connect the next generation of African leaders. Team player and leader with strong people skills. Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including schools, families, community organizations, and other institutions. Strong networking&presentation skills; comfortable speaking in front of large groups of stakeholders. Excellent working knowledge of all the Academy’s programs (two-year diploma program and GSP), including program details, key stakeholders, impact stories and alumni. Highly organized, able to handle logistics for multiple activities with attention to detail and capacity to follow through. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce quality communication materials. Understanding of educational systems and curricula across the continent.
