At Arts & Science, we take pride in our legacy of innovation and discovery that has changed the way we think about the world.Your opportunity:Reporting to the Principal at University College, the Communications Officer is responsible for the implementation of communications, marketing and outreach activities for the College.The Officer produces promotional and outreach materials to the College’s diverse and broad audience of current and prospective students, alumni, friends, donors, faculty and staff and the general public. The Communications Officer maintains the College’s presence on social media platforms using tools (Sprout Social Platform) for deploying content to UC’s social channels. The Communications Officer maintains information on the College’s webpages, digital platforms and promotes internal and outreach events and programs, writes content, speeches, briefing notes, reports and a variety of marketing and communications vehicles.Your responsibilities will include:Implementing communication plans across a broad range of marketing and communication channels.Developing content, producing and disseminating promotional and outreach materials for all functions of the College to internal and external stakeholders.Creating and maintaining presence on social media platforms; fostering and maintaining positive relationships with targeted social media communities.Maintaining information on websites for the College and digital platforms, customizing website according to objectives or feedback, coordinating website updates and ensuring technical issues are resolved, writing content, developing visual look of websites and ensuring brand coherence across the Colleges webpages.Supporting University College communications projects including internal wayfinding in the UC Building for students and visitors to points of interest and to classrooms, offices and meeting spaces.Essential Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, or journalism, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience in communications, marketing or journalism, preferably in post-secondary environment.Experience with communications project implementation and coordination through to execution and results.Experience maintaining consistent brand identity for multiple audiences and platforms, including print, online, digital, websites, and social medial platforms.Demonstrated ability in implementing social media and multimedia strategies, the application of social media tools and channels, and analysis of metrics.Excellent researching, writing, and editing skills for a variety of vehicles and audiences including writing briefing notes and speeches, annual reports, letters, and promotional and public relations material; fact-checking, and proof-reading skills.Exceptional oral communications skills and ability to engage effectively with a wide and diverse range ofaudiences.Demonstrated skills in developing and designing inclusive communications and marketing materials.Strong communication skills with promoting programs such as donation campaigns and student programs.Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Demonstrated software skills (Adobe, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator or similar software)Advanced skills with web and social media tools including Wordpress, Drupal, CSS, HTML, Instagram, Facebook, or equivalent.Excellent organizational skills to manage and meet overlapping priorities and firm deadlines.Demonstrated ability to work independently and to collaborate with leadership and staff at varying levels.To be successful in this role you will be:Achievement orientedGoal orientedOrganizedSelf-directedTeam player Closing Date: 06/10/2024, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: USW Appointment Type: Budget - Continuing Schedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 11 -- $73,748 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $94,310.
