Job Description: The UJ Faculty of Art Design and Architecture (FADA) seeks an accomplished educator with administrative expertise and academic expertise in the field of art therapy to serve Lecturer and as the Academic Administrator of the Art Therapy programme. Reporting to the Art Therapy Division Leader, the Academic Administrator will primarily have operational responsibility for all aspects of programme delivery, and will also be expected to contribute to teaching, supervision, and research. Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Division Leader to develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance the quality and effectiveness of the Art Therapy programme. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and educational regulation. Facilitate a positive and supportive learning environment for students by overseeing admissions, providing academic guidance, and coordinating student activities. Manage student records and assist in resolving academic related issues. Support the development and implementation of curriculum enhancements to meet evolving industry needs. Coordinate assessment and examination processes that comply with Faculty and University regulations. Support and maintain external outreach, networks, market opportunities and professional linkages of the programme. Coordinate course scheduling ensuring cohesive and effective curriculum delivery. Oversee day-to-day administrative operations, including managing budgets and supporting teaching requirements. Collaborate with other academic administrators and industry partners to streamline processes and improve overall education setting. Contribute to teaching, research, and supervision of Honours students. Undertake research and/or creative work that enhances the discipline and leads to accredited outputs. A Master’s degree in arts education or a related field. Proven experience in academic administration in higher education. Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with accreditation processes and standards. Lecturing , supervision, and programme management experience. Evidence of or capacity to develop research and/or creative output. Competencies and Behavioural Attributes: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong leadership, organisational, interpersonal skills. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work with faculty staff, students, and community members as well as organizational leaders. Proven experience in creating campus and community partnerships. Collegial and emotionally intelligent. Innovative, proactive, and creative. Ability to work in a pressurised environment and independently. High level of integrity and ethical foundation. Familiarity with arts-based research methodologies, therapeutic interventions, and community engagement. Proven ability to undertake academic research and/or creative work. Recommendations: Knowledge of university policies, rules, and regulations. A record of research and/or creative work that could in time lead to NRF rating. 3-5 years’ experience in multiple programme coordination. 5 years of lecturing in Higher Education environment.
