The Commercial Manager Position The Commercial Manager acts as a strategic advisor for the coal operations and logistics function. They are responsible for developing and implementing initiatives to maximize the commercial value of these areas. This includes managing associated commercial risks to ensure profitability and sustainability. Key Responsibilities: Purchasing management (sourcing of suppliers and/or goods and services) Source new suppliers where required or drive sourcing activities from existing suppliers Support Coal Origination field team with pricing analysis and evaluation of offers from 3rd party coal suppliers where required Support Road Transport team with pricing analysis and evaluation of offers from Transporters where required Costing analysis for reporting purposes and to identify potential areas for cost savings/optimization. Where the function resides with other role players, provide input where necessary Manage the procurement officer to ensure fulfillment of this KPA Contract management (suppliers, mainly coal mines’ contracting terms) Conclusion The Commercial Manager role involves handling various aspects of commercial operations from purchasing and sourcing to contract management and analysis.
