Job Role:The Asset Controller plays a crucial role in ensuring the organization maintains accurate and complete records of its assets, including equipment, technology, and other tangible resources. This position is responsible for the entire lifecycle of assets, from acquisition and deployment to disposal and depreciation. By effectively managing assets, the Asset Controller contributes to financial reporting accuracy, optimized asset utilization, and minimized risk of loss or misuse.Responsibilities:Manage the asset registerMaintain a comprehensive and accurate register of all assets, including detailed information such as serial numbers, purchase dates, locations, values, and custodians.Regularly update the register with changes in asset status (acquisitions, transfers, disposals, etc.).Track asset acquisition and disposal:Process new asset acquisitions according to company policies and procedures.Ensure proper documentation and approvals are obtained for asset disposals.Coordinate the physical removal and disposal of assets according to environmental regulations.Manage asset transfers and relocations:Track and document asset movements within the organization.Update asset records and notify relevant personnel of location changes.Conduct physical verification of assets during transfers.Perform periodic inventory counts:Conduct regular physical inventory counts to reconcile records with actual assets.Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during inventory counts.Document and report discrepancies to management.Coordinate asset maintenance and repairs.Track asset maintenance schedules and warranty information.Coordinate with internal or external service providers for repairs and maintenance.Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all maintenance activities.Prepare financial reports:Assist with the preparation of financial reports by providing accurate asset data and depreciation schedules.Work with the finance team to ensure asset-related entries are recorded accurately in the financial statements.Ensure compliance with asset management policies:Implement and maintain internal controls for asset management.Monitor adherence to company policies and procedures regarding asset usage and security.Identify and recommend improvements to asset management practices.Qualifications and Competencies Required:Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in asset management or a related field.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Preferred:Experience with asset management software (Autoline)Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong organizational and time management skills.NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
