Purpose of the job: To ensure Chemicals work in synergy to drive and enable business strategy, growth, and sustainability through sound financial and commercial leadership, leading and managing internal teams and outsourced partners, managing risk and compliance, creating new revenue streams and driving innovation and continuous improvement. Experiential and Educational requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, education / training, and experience required for this position: Relevant degree, e.g., in Chemicals, Supply Chain, Financial and/or Strategic Management. 5 - 8+ years middle to senior management experience with exposure to Chemical Environments. Essential duties and responsibilities: Technical Pre-Requisite: Relevant experience in a manufacturing production environment, including a track record of manufacturing efficiencies, quality, and managing of people within that. Strong end-to-end supply chain and logistics knowledge and insight Customer insight including understanding of what motivates customers’ needs and a deep understanding of the upstream and downstream aspects of business processes from a customer and supplier perspective. Strong leadership people management capabilities End to-end project and change management skills Owner-manager mindset with an ability to adapt quickly, manage ambiguity and research new opportunities. Analytical and connective thinker with a solution-focused mindset Strategic agility and leadership in line with global best practices Assertive and decisive, with sound judgement and decision-making skills. Performance driven, resilient and able to manage stress, pressure, and tight deadlines. Excellent relationship building and supplier management skills with an ability to influence at all levels and across cultures. Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation and conflict management skills. Role and Responsibilities: Achievement of financial objectives: Consolidate and review budgets for the division for the year ahead as well as the mid-term plan and ensure budgets align to organisational strategy. Regularly review and manage costs, expenses and profitability from an efficiency and effectiveness perspective, including, for example, setting up business models and plans to ensure the business is profitable (e.g., consolidating cargoes from different suppliers in source countries to ensure cost competitiveness for the customer). Negotiate contracts in terms of costs to optimize financial flexibility. Review weekly GP reports to match costs and ensure pricing issues are corrected to prevent late payments. Apply kaizen mindset to identify opportunities for business improvement initiatives and cost saving measures for team, suppliers, and customers at divisional level. Business oversight and efficiencies: Ensure a philosophy of safety first (anzen) is built into all business processes and oversee the development and execution of all plans and activities. Manage, medium and long-term business planning, including accurate, timely weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. Oversee effective, efficient end-to-end supply chain management in line with agreed processes and timelines and ensure timely resolution of outstanding issues. Monitor net working capital and ensure timely resolution of identified risks at divisional level. Ensure systems talk to each other to create alignment and a single, end-to-end view of the flow of product. Continually define, refine and re-align business processes to improve efficiencies and prevent losses in line with global subsidiary benchmarks. Keep abreast of issues facing the industry and global supply chain and ensure the leadership team is made aware of any issue that that could impact customers’ standing and diversified sales development in the industry and/or region. Risk and compliance management Oversee cross-divisional adherence to all safety, risk, regulatory and legal requirements. Review the management and mitigation of operational, financial, commercial, regulatory, and reputational risk, including the vetting of contracts to flag challenges and potential risks. This includes overseeing compliance with Delegations of Authority, corporate requirements, and risk management strategies. Oversee compliance with regulatory and legal requirements for both internal teams and outsourced 3rd party suppliers. Oversee that all facilities are in good working order, including working with CFSM and 3rd party providers to highlight problems and ensure resolution. Oversee and review information needed for annual audits / PACI audits, ensure the function is audit ready at all times and oversee timely resolution of audit exceptions. Keep abreast of and proactively manage various types of risks including: Safety risk Financial, forex and procurement risk Supply chain risk Legal and compliance risk Reputational risk Growth and continuous improvement Generate a balance of revenue between automotive and non-automotive through tactical diversification beyond current customer base to mitigate risk. Define, shape and follow-through on new business activities and action plans in line with emerging opportunities, risks and TTAF’s vision for diversification. Apply kaizen mindset to identify opportunities for business improvement initiatives and cost saving measures for team, suppliers, and customers. Set- up and oversee various projects and initiatives to grow sales and profits. Customer satisfaction and stakeholder engagement Hunt to set up new strategic customer relationships to achieve mid and long-term plans and define businesses around these. Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers. Guide cross divisional team across business areas to maximise customer satisfaction and retain and expand customers into related areas. Lead by example in representing the function and building strong internal and external relationships, displaying strong abilities to listen, advise, influence, negotiate and make presentations at all levels.
