Mpongwe – Zambia: Our client is looking for a Group Senior Veterinarian to join the team.Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree. Proven experience in a veterinary role, preferably in an agricultural context. Demonstrated knowledge of veterinary regulations and standards related to agriculture and wildlife. Experience with and ability to utilise modern technology. Additional certifications are advantageous. Valid Drivers License. Valid Passport. Must be willing to travel KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS&ABILITIES REQUIRED Proven experience as a Veterinarian. Demonstrated ability to oversee and implement various programs, which promote improved production efficiency and productivity. Extensive knowledge of local laws and regulations. Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards. Excellent communication skills. Integrity and professional ethics. Teamwork skills. Time management. The ability to work independently and to strict deadlines. Attention to detail. Ability to adapt and work in potentially challenging conditions and situations. Effective resource management. Willingness to travel and dedicate time to ensuring the effective functioning of the business, across its various operations. Ability to conduct animal reproductive programs such as Artificial Insemination and Embryo Flushing. Ability to diagnose and effectively treat potential issues with herd and flock health. Understanding of wildlife immobilisation and translocation. DUTIES&RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Evaluate and improve the group’s current veterinary policies, to ensure they adhere to modern standards, in-line with all legal requirements. Carry out regular monitoring of compliance levels across the group’s operations, and provide reports to senior management. Create sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them. Oversee the implementation and improvement of the group’s animal management programs, to ensure compliance with all legal, environmental and social requirements, while promoting improved efficiency and profitability. Proactively audit processes and practices to identify weaknesses. Consistently evaluate animal health across the group’s operations, maintaining optimal herd&flock health. Provide input and guidance on the implementation of best-practice methods, that minimize impact and risk and promote profitability and long-term sustainability. Educate and train employees on regulations and industry best practices. Set plans to monitor and manage potential disease outbreaks. Address concerns or questions on herd and flock health. Study and keep up-to-date with changes in industry, that may affect the group. Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals. Work with management teams on different properties to monitor the management and use of medicines, vaccines and other medical inputs. Work across all operations to ensure compliance with all internal and regulatory requirements. Develop and implement programs to promote improvements in the fertility, productivity and profitability of our animal assets. Provide training and awareness education for farm staff on animal health issues, sustainable practices, and compliance requirements. Develop and oversee strategies to promote improved resource use and efficiencies. Prepare and submit weekly reports to senior management and external consultants when required. Maintain records of all animal health related activities across our properties. Work closely with the animal and poultry management teams on all the group’s properties, ensuring compliance with company regulations, in a manner which promotes efficiency and improved work-flow.
