Role Purpose The purpose of the Data Governance Manager role is to ensure that efficient and cost-effective data solutions and processes are in place to address current to long term (>1 year) business data needs/requirements. The Data Governance Manager oversees and determines timeframes for IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages while additionally managing and reporting on allocation of IT budgets. The role further provides direction for IT team members, optimally guiding and managing their outputs and deliverables while supporting with training, skills advancement and development opportunities. Role Description Drive and support the development and implementation of the data management departments vision as it pertains to the delivery of data quality, data governance and data migration practices. Act as champion and promote data governance offering. Effectively manage the output of the team and provide clear direction on deliverables. Manage the Data Governance Team Jira Board and manage all requests accordingly. Efficient and effective Jira management including meeting and delivering on planned expectations and dates committed. Determine the data requirements when working on projects, ensuring detailed and comprehensive inputs to document the scope and confirm what role data management will play. Prepare and deliver each project’s data approach solutions, documented on DRS, approach slide pack and required plans. Create and manage the document deliverables within the data management team (e.g. data requirement specification, approach slides, RAID register). Create and manage data governance framework activities (e.g. data protection compliance, data retention and archiving guidelines, data standards, data processing documents) on project plans to integrate into overall project deliverables. Establishment of data councils and trusteeship. Monitor data quality, ensuring its accuracy, consistency and integrity. Maintain ongoing communication and sound working relationships with Technology and Business teams to ensure ongoing collaborative effort, delivery of shared goals and achievement of data management’s vision. Manage and oversee the performance and delivery of the team, ensuring the team is empowered and enabled to deliver on their performance objectives. Plan for and execute all related people management functions including approving leave requests, approval of time sheet maintenance, etc. Qualifications and experience Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Informatics or a related technical field – (essential). +5 years' experience in a similar role, with demonstrable experience in data management, information architecture and governance design and implementation, with significant influence on the overall direction of data quality analysis and profiling – (essential). Experience working with or delivering data governance for a retail or FMCG businesses – (essential). Strong knowledge of best practices in data governance, data quality management and data migration – (essential). Strong data processing experience and background – (essential). Advanced knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK (Data Management Book of Knowledge) – (essential). Intermediate knowledge in programming languages, including Structured Query Language (SQL) – (essential). Strong MS Excel skills or a similar tool for data analysis – (essential). Project management background – (essential). Previous experience working with SAP Information Steward – (desired). Knowledge of Jira and Agile methodology – (desired). Knowledge of PowerBI – (desired). Exposure to and understanding of business analysis – (desired). #J-18808-Ljbffr
