BUDGET&TREASURY DEPARTMENT ACCOUNTANT: BUDGET AND REPORTING Remuneration: R 351 623.09 p. a plus normal Municipal benefits (Task Grade 12) Requirements: • A National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) • A National Diploma or B.Com Degree in Accounting • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience • Computer literate in MS Office • A valid driver’s license • Knowledge of the Samras System and Local Government legislations • Good communication skills in both English and IsiZulu. Key performance areas: The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties: • Ability to perform financial management duties according to prescribed norms and standards and good working knowledge and experience of applicable local government legislation (e.g. MSA, MFMA) and others as applicable legislations • Responsible for the compilation of statuary financial reporting as per MFMA (Municipal Finance Management Act) e.g. monthly, quarterly, and biannually reporting • Responsible for grant administration, management, and reporting • Ability to prepare interim and annual financial statements • Ensure preparation and review of grants, bank and investment reconciliations • Assist with setting and compilation of municipal budget, tariffs, and costing as per MFMA and municipal budget reporting requirements • Prepares forecasts of income and expenditure • Assist in managing assets according to municipal policies and procedures • Act as a liaison (IGR) representative for the municipality regarding financial compliance and reporting to stakeholders • Responsible for daily financial functions include a compilation of journal, ratio’s financial operational and capital reporting, various reconciliations, and performing due diligence on financial transactions • Assist with year-end procedures for the compilation of the annual financial statement • Assist with administering the financial audit file • Ensure compliance with all reporting requirements applicable to local government.
