Description Our client in the food processing industry is currently looking to employ an experienced Factory Assistant Manager based in St Francis Bay . 3 years food processing in a production environment and cold chain management experience secures! A wonderful career opportunity awaits you. Requirements: At least 3 years food processing in a production environment. Has cold chain management experience. Has come from the fishing industry, preferable from a FMCG background (Fast moving consumer packaged goods). Has good knowledge to handle factory requirements to comply with HACCP and PPECB requirements. (courses to support such are advantageous). Has been exposed to Cold Storage Management, this includes packing of containers for local and export markets. Has experience of fish processing or food processing with value adding. Has run food production shifts of overseeing 50 people or more. Has a drivers licence. Has a forklift license. Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel). Qualities required: Logical thinker. Be able to handle Stress. Flexible and resilient. Problem solver. Positive attitude. Be able to work in an accurate manner. Be able to prioritise with tight deadlines. Have excellent communication skills. Responsibilities and expectations but not limited to: Implement and enforce a comprehensive food safety program based on Haccp Principles. Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and industry standards. Oversee the implementation of sanitation procedures and maintain a clean and hygienic work environment. Manage the quality control program, ensuring product consistency and meet customer specifications. Lead and motivate a team of production personnel, including training, assigning task, ensuring safe work environment. Address employee concerns and maintain positive working relationships. Oversee facility maintenance for processing and facility. Ensure equipment is functioning properly and calibrated to meet food safety and quality standards. Implement preventative maintenance programs. Communicate with various people (management, production manager, NRCS, shore skippers and office staff). Reports on production activities, and other relevant data to production manager. Manage and oversee all production activities, receiving raw fish, processing, packaging, labelling and storage. Optimize production processes for efficiency and yield. Assist in stock take with Factory manager. Dealing with PPECB. Receiving and Issuing of products (fresh&frozen). Managing 40 to 100 staff on a production shift. For daily factory administration (good received to goods issues). Send product samples for NRCS inspection and follow up on micros. Notification to staff for production shifts and ensuring enough staff are present for shifts. Ensuring compliance to Health and Safety regulations. Loading of ice for various fishing vessels. Being well organized and to get the Production Unit to work together orderly and systematically so as to achieve the Production targets. Deal with any production blockage to ensure targets are met. Oversee the processing of various fish products taking into account the various regulations required such as HACCP, NRCS and PPECB. Attend to all administration for product flow from vessels to Cold Store (goods received to good issued) Working shifts (night / day).
