Main purpose of the job:Coordinate the DREAMS (School Based HIV and GBV) program and oversee the district-level implementation of the program in order to ensure the delivery of outputs and support the technical assistance component and the training of SBSTs, SGBs, and government officials where requiredLocation:Witsieshoek, Thabo Mofutsanyane (Free State)Key performance areas:Communicate, promote, and support implementation of the School-based HIV & GBV program at the district, sub-district, and facility levelsProvide program implementation guidance and support to District team members to ensure delivery of program activities according to timelines and budgetsConstant consultation and planning with the provincial manager and district teamsConduct regular meetings with the District team to ensure outputs are delivered and to review progress on the implementation planReview district implementation plans for effective implementation of the programIdentify the needs of the program at a district level and obtain the resources requiredCoordinate and troubleshoot all program-related activitiesOversee the rollout of the training plan on the National School Safety Framework, SAFE schools, ISHP SOPs, and other relevant training for the district, including conducting Training for trainersThrough the provincial manager, work closely with the National School Safety manager and the capacity-building adviser/consultant to ensure that capacity-building activities are implemented in the districtMonitor the delivery and quality of training at the district levelParticipate in monitoring activities mandated by the training of DoE Educators and support staffProvide ongoing coaching, mentoring, feedback, and support to the district training officerParticipate in ongoing mentorship programs initiated by other WRHI stakeholdersEvaluate the effectiveness of training by obtaining feedback from stakeholders and/or relevant assessmentsSupport the district team, ensuring that communication between the team is optimal and that program activities are coordinated and leveragedEnsure coordination across program streams, ISHP, NSSF, Safe School, PrEP, Community Services, and Linkage to careSupport activities that promote and advocate for adolescent and youth-friendly service (AYFS) or youth zones at health facility and community levelMaintain close communication with the M&E team to ensure adequate and regular reporting and documenting of lessons learned and success storiesDevelop and effectively manage relationships with relevant Wits RHI structuresContribute to the achievement of Wits RHI’s corporate goals and objectivesDevelop and effectively manage relationships with external stakeholders including DBE, DOH, DSD, donors, and partnersServe as a representative of the Schools project on external forums/working groups in the districtCoordinate program activities with external agencies such as public health, NGO partners, regulatory bodies, donor monitoring and auditing agencies, and others as necessarySupervise and manage line reporting (clinical mentor, operation coordinator, and training officer) in keeping with Wits RHI policies and proceduresAttend to all staffing requirements and administration at a district levelSupervise and manage the duties of supervisees to ensure optimal staff utilization and maintenance of sound labor relationsPerform and facilitate performance assessmentsIdentify substandard performance by team members and take necessary corrective actionCoach and train subordinates and team members to ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organizationPromote harmony, teamwork, and sharing of informationProvide day-to-day support to all project staffTake ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self-managementFollow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintainedMaintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedbackTake ownership of driving your own career development by participating in ongoing training and development activities such as forums, conferences, policy-setting workshops, etc.Required minimum education and training:Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Development Studies, Social Science, Public Health, Education, Management, or related fieldsMust be a South African National or Permanent resident with fluency in English and in at least one local indigenous South African languageMust have a valid South African driver’s license and be willing to travelRequired minimum work experience:At least 3 -
