Job Summary:The Back of House Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations in the non-public areas of the hotel, ensuring that all support functions operate efficiently and seamlessly. This role involves managing the kitchen, storage, laundry, and maintenance teams to maintain the highest standards of service, cleanliness, and efficiency, in line with the hotel’s 5-star status.Minimum Requirements:Previous experience in a similar role within a high-end hotel or hospitality establishment is essential.Extensive knowledge of kitchen operations, hygiene standards, and health and safety regulations.Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.Excellent organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with different teams and departments.Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment, including weekends and holidays.Knowledge of inventory management and budgeting is preferred.Certification or training in food safety and hygiene is highly desirable.Proficiency in using computer systems and software for scheduling, reporting, and record keeping.Main Attributes: Strong leadership and management skills.Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.High attention to detail and quality standards.Strong understanding of hospitality operations, particularly in back of house areas.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.Proactive problem-solving abilities.Duties and responsibilities: Operational Oversight: Ensure all back of house operations run smoothly and efficiently, with minimal disruptions. Oversee and manage the kitchen stewarding team, providing leadership, guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective operations. Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all back of house functions. Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with cleanliness, safety, and quality standards.Team Management: Maintain high team morale and productivity levels. Responsible for adequate staffing levels at all times. Monitor employee performance and conduct performance evaluations as per the hotel's guidelines.Budget and Cost Management: Meet budgetary targets and develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost savings without compromising standards.Quality Control: Manage and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in all kitchen areas, including dishwashing, equipment cleaning, waste disposal and general kitchen cleanliness. Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and sanitation standards. Implement quality control measures to minimize errors and defects in back of house operations.Inventory and Procurement Management: Optimize inventory levels to minimize waste and stock outs. Oversee inventory management processes, including ordering, receiving, and stock rotation.
