Main Objectives All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), and community engagement, recognizing differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty, and/or University level and contribute to their profession. In addition, a Professor and Associate Professor provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, research, and community engagement and contribute towards the institution's governance. This leadership contribution of the Professor should be evidenced at the departmental, Faculty and institutional levels. The Requirements At least a PhD in Environmental Science, Ecology, Conservation Biology or related field. Teaching, research and community engagement focus in quantitative ecology with experience in social ecological systems and ecosystem services. Experience in spatial analysis (GIS and remote sensing) will be an advantage. Tutoring, facilitation, or conference presentation experience required. Some teaching experience is an added advantage. Ability to teach in some of the following areas: quantitative ecology, social-ecological systems and ecosystem services Some research supervision of postgraduate degrees is an added advantage. Evidence of research publication. Some administrative experience albeit in informal contexts e.g., student or sports clubs, work experiences. At least a PhD in Environmental Science, Ecology, Conservation Biology or related field. Proven track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles in teaching, assessment, research and community engagement. Associate Professor At least a PhD in Environmental Science, Ecology, Conservation Biology or related field. Teaching, research and community engagement focus in quantitative ecology with experience in social ecological systems and ecosystem services. Experience in spatial analysis (GIS and remote sensing) will be an advantage. Considerable teaching experience at the undergraduate and post graduate levels. Experience in teaching and research in quantitative ecology, including social- ecological systems and ecosystem services. Research supervision of at least Masters’ and PhDs to completion. National and emerging international profile in discipline. Track record of research publication. Remuneration per annum: Basic Pensionable Salary per annum:R600,141.00 Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R782,346.00 Senior Lecturer Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R742,411.00 Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R958,719.00 Associate Professor Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R887,318.00 Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R 1,138,361.00 All applications will be treated in strict confidence.
