The IIE's Varsity College, Waterfall Campus has a vacancy for a Lecturer: Database (Part-time). Minimum Qualification Requirements: Honours in Information Systems/ Computer Science Alternatively: Honours degree with advanced database design or a similarly related field to the third-year level . Minimum Work Experience Required for Database Lecturer: Lecturing experience in SQL/ database design and implementation/ database administration Familiar with use of SQL*Plus and SQL Developer to manipulate Oracle Database. Knowledge of the following concepts: RDBMS Data warehousing Structured Query Language (SQL) statements and SQL functions Data Definition commands. Data Manipulation Language commands. Procedural Language (PL)/SQL coding language. Data manipulation using PL/SQL structures. Handling PL/SQL Exceptions. Use of procedures and functions to develop and maintain databases. Triggers and Advanced Interface Methods Administering a Database Git and GitHub Work experience as a software developer/ application developer/programmer. The candidate must have worked within the tertiary institution so that they understand what students will experience of tertiary institutions and what is expected from them. The candidate must have a solid understanding of academic skills and how to assist the students to incorporate these skills into their studies. Competencies Required: Communication Skills Online Technology&Communication Skills Organisational Skills Effective Classroom Management Open to Development Working Conditions: Availability to lecture Part-time during the week, between 8am – 5pm on campus.
