Faircape Health provides the full continuum of care at six world-class healthcare facilities located on-site at six luxury, retirement villages.The services of an experienced Assistant Carer Supervisor (Day shift) isrequired for our facilityCle Du Cap,located in the Southern Suburbs. The successful incumbent will ensure that the Carers on shift work according to the approved care plan by directly providing practical, physical, social and emotional care for residents at the healthcare center.If you would like to work for a dynamic and reputable retirement group and have a passion for care then this is the job for you. To ensure high quality patient care, we also invest in continuous development of our staff, which includes both internal and external training.Duties include but is not limited to the following:The Assistant Carer Supervisor will ensure that the residents receive the highest standard of care, assist the Carer Supervisor in supporting and guiding the carer team in their day-to-day performance of their jobs. You will also contribute to fostering positive relationships between staff and management and act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the Carer Supervisor or as operationally required.QUALITY CONTROLParticipate in the handover process to/from the opposite shift and communicating allobservations regarding residentsAssist the Carer Supervisor with staff allocation, providing input as requiredCompletion of the Emergency list for Fire & Evacuation Safety in the absence of theCarer Supervisor and reporting all maintenance issues immediatelyComplete admission and discharge checklistsAssists the carer team with day to duties and ensuring the team adheres to infectioncontrol measuresProvide on the job training and demonstrating corrective measuresEnsuring at that end of each shift that all carer equipment is clean and neatly storedin designated areasADMINISTRATION AND REPORTINGEnsure charting times correlate to when tasks are done and that all documentation is completeEnsure all concerns regarding patients are reported to the Shift Leader and documented on our online system Healthware.PATIENT CARE (ACCORDING TO CARE PLAN)Ensure all activities as per care plan is done and chartedEnsure a safe and therapeutic environment is created for all residents and that the care plan is up to date with the needs of the residentEnsure appropriate activities are being carried out in different areas and that caregivers are actively involvedCOMPANY POLICIES AND PROCEDURESEnsuring compliance, understanding and adherence to company policies and proceduresINFECTION CONTROLEnsure infection control policies and procedures are followed and adhered toEnsure good personal hygiene maintained for all CarersAdherence to the Uniform policyHEALTH AND SAFETYEnsure all company policies and procedures are adhered to in terms of health and safetyEnsure all contraventions reported to the Shift Leader before the end of shiftSUPERVISIONResponsible to act in the absence of the Carer SupervisorTake on full scope of duties allocated by the Carer SupervisorREQUIREMENTS:Education and qualifications:Acknowledged Carer Training from a reputable organizationSETA accreditation will be an advantageGrade 10 - 12Minimum 2 years experience working as a carerPrevious supervisory experienceSkills and Knowledge :To assist in the day to day running of the team, under direction of the Carer SupervisorExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsStrong, accurate computer and administration skillsKnowledge of caring principles in caring for the aged, this includes:Core carer competency skillsDementia carePalliative careRehabilitative careManual Handling knowledge & skillsFall prevention knowledge & skillsComputer literateAttributes:Efficient, able to multi-task and willing to be a team playerMust be able to work well with the elderly and have compassion for caring for themBe accepting of change within the role of caring, as the need arises.Be able to work within a team and independently.Excellent interpersonal skillsHave the ability to make good decisions, think objectively and preventAbility to work collaboratively with the supervisor and team membersAttention to detailWillingness to take on additional responsibilitiesAbility to step into a leadership role when neededAbility to provide training and support to new staff membersBe flexible, hard working, honest and reliablePassionate about caregivingWillingness to work with the residents directly when neededManagerial abilityAbility to motivate and inspire team membersAbility to follow instructions and protocols accuratelyWillingness to continuously learn and improve caregiving skillsSpecific requirementsClear health recordClear criminal recordClear credit recordContactable referencesWorking Hours: Normal working days are Mondays to Sundays, according to the duty roster. You will be required to work 16.25 shifts per month.
