RPO’s client is looking for a Surface Surveyor to join their dynamic team. The role involves obtaining accurate internal and external data using surveying instruments and technology to ensure precise surveying, calculations, certifications, and representation of all surface and open pit features and mining events. Additionally, it includes monitoring survey activities for compliance with relevant Acts, Regulations, and contractual agreements to support informed management decision-making.Responsibilities:Compliance, Risk, and Safety: Conduct daily safety meetings and risk assessments before any survey work. Report any substandard conditions and unauthorized use of surface areas to ensure compliance with mine standards and legal requirements. Operational Efficiencies: Import and export electronic information to address internal data requests. Stay updated with technological advancements to recommend new technologies for optimizing mine surveying operations. Resource Management: Provide input on resource changes needed to achieve team or individual objectives. Determine and allocate resources to ensure quality outputs. Monitor asset and resource usage to ensure efficient management and maintenance. Provide daily direction and tasks to staff according to departmental procedures. Track the use of survey assets and maintain the Survey Asset Register. Stakeholder Relations: Communicate with relevant departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment with departmental objectives and manage potential issues. Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve work objectives. Surveying: Utilize survey data from UAS Surveyor for designing drill patterns. Perform exploration surveys to ensure representation matches actual plans. Provide expertise during Land Management Programs. Update water volumes in the pit for production planning. Monitor new surface structures to prevent the sterilization of mineral reserves. Conduct surveys at the ROM pad and processing plant using Total Station equipment. Perform in-pit surveys to ensure accurate representation on mining plans. Review and sign off on project milestones and deliverables. Conduct surveys at tailing storage facilities to confirm volumes and design compliance. Perform weekly and monthly aerial surveys and volume measurements. Arrange for the installation of ground control points for planned aerial surveys. Requirements Chamber of Mines Advanced Certificate in Surveying (NQF6) or National Diploma (NQF6) in Surveying Driving License 3-5 years of relevant experience Proficiency with survey instruments, including GPS and Total Station Experience with CAD/Model Maker/Deswik software is advantageous Must be medically fit.BenefitsSalary: negotiableContact RPO Recruitment for your next career opportunity.  Our client is offering a highly competitive salary for this role based on experience.
