A well established company has a vacancy for an Operations Manager who will be a part of a dynamic production team while undertaking various internal projects to maximize production, decrease wastage and improve innovation for effective cost saving. The successful incumbent will be responsible for all operational related requirements on this 24/7 site – hence should ideally live within 30 km of the site to be able to be on site within 45 minutes.. Responsibilities: Drive operational performance by implementing initiatives and drive continuous improvement to achieve manufacturing performance objectives and to reduce operational costs and ensure sustainability. Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors. Establish production control standards, develop budget, and cost controls and obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered. Communicates and aligns the operations capabilities in support of and contributing to the overall company strategic direction Accountable for the factory operations strategic plan, including *** planning. Drive the move towards waste reduction, recycling, use of renewable energies. Accountable for the factory administration&performance reporting. Accountable for the reliable, effective, optimised, and efficient operation of the manufacturing operations including Asset Management and Operations Excellence. Accountable for supply chain management of raw material, intermediate and finished product availability. Accountable of all the factory related service level contracts. Accountable that the product quality management systems are upheld, ISO and FSSC standards are maintained. Responsible for the Health and Safety within the factory. Accountable for the generation of daily, weekly, monthly performance and OPEX reports. Requirements: Bachelors in Food Science / Chemical Engineering / Industrial Engineering or similar- Essential MBA or Commerce / business qualification - Advantage Microsoft Office Suite- Essential SAP- Advantage Experience in South African food manufacturing industry- Essential – over 20 years Post-graduation experience with demonstrated experience in a senior role in Operations management- over 10 years Food safety and OHS practices and standards- over 10 years Project management experience in effluent/ water treatment/ recycling/ energy reduction/ carbon footprint reduction e.g. solar/ capacity increase projects- over 10 years. Continuous improvement record in product quality, process efficiencies and operating costs- over 10 years. Own reliable transport.
