Afrirent Holdings is currently looking for a Director of Golf for Indalo Hotels and Leisure who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the golf operation and services, including the pro shop, golf range, golf services areas, and golf cart operation. This includes managing, developing, controlling, planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of the golf business both tactically and strategically. The Director of Golf must provide a clear vision for the strategic direction of the golf business, identify additional sales and marketing opportunities, ensure customer service excellence is consistently delivered, and maximize revenues and profitability. They will be responsible for overseeing the operations of Ba-Phalaborwa and Skukuza golf clubs and for arranging golf days, competitions, and seeking corporate business development opportunities for the golf operations. Responsibilities: The overall management of the Ba-Phalaborwa and Skukuza Golf Clubs’ golf operations Develop/coordinate the development of annual business plans for the golf operation Develop and oversee an innovative tournament schedule and golf activities program that services all customer segments Oversee all fiscal areas and performance for the golf operations including planning, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and correction Ensure all role-players within the golf operations department are aware and understanding of what is required from them on a day-to-day Coordinate and ensure all written correspondence, reporting, newsletters, and communications for the golf operation Enforce all rules and regulations governing golf course usage Oversee all fiscal areas and performance for the golf operations including planning, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and correction Play golf with customers/patrons of all skill levels as time and duties permit Meet, greet, and welcome prospective customers/patrons Develop and oversee an innovative tournament schedule and golf activities program that services all customer segments Oversee golf marketing initiatives including all promotional materials, play recruitment, yield management, golf packages, and outside events plus the promotion of new golf memberships (where applicable Play golf with customers/patrons of all skill levels as time and duties permit Identifies and develops new relationships for new business opportunities Delivers presentations to potential clients and stakeholders on Indalo Hotels&Leisure and its Golf product offerings Shares insights, legislation updates and hospitality management knowledge with potential clients to guide business proposals and applications Observation of all areas within the golf operations department to ensure that optimal service is being provided at a high level Check the activities of golf operations, inspect the running of work and draft reports where applicable Plan, organise and coordinate the day-to-day running of the golf operations team Implements controls and practices, and monitors these, with the purpose of ensuring that golf operations are performing work to the desired levels of productivity and cost-efficiency Ensures that all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a safe to use condition Implements controls and monitors adherence to these controls as it relates to the safekeeping, maintenance, cleanliness and/or tidiness of all Estate property assigned to the golf operations team Maintain and improve service levels on an ongoing basis Directly Manages: Porters – Meet&Greet; Caddy Masters&Caddies; Starters&Marshalls; Cart Master; Driving Range Attendant; Pro-Shop staff. Discipline of Staff members Enforcement of Club rules, Monitoring of play on the golf course and etiquette Schedules and chairs regular staff meetings focused on customers, operations, revenue growth, cost containment and continuous improvement Organise and facilitate regular staff meetings to ensure all staff are kept abreast of happenings in the department and to ascertain current challenges Conduct quarterly appraisals with all staff members within the golf operations Provide feedback and on-the-job guidance to staff in between quarterly appraisals to assist with learning and weekly reporting to the Director and CEO regarding all facets of performance in the golf operations department Establish golf shop operations personnel policies and ensure proper hiring, training, supervising, personal development and corrective action in accordance with fair labour standards, safety and established policy Develop and oversee a profitable merchandise concession that is consistent with customer/patron demographics and needs Competencies Knowledge (Job knowledge required) Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations Fundamental supervisory practices and principles Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behaviour and work ethic expected of all employees Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills Skills Communication People Management Leadership Negotiation Conflict Management Monitoring and Evaluation Time Management Education (Formal Qualification Required) Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent, A relevant PGA qualification or currently being employed as a Director of Golf at a comparable golf club or estate; Ideal A Business related qualification Legal Requirements Driver’s Licence Experience Minimum 3-5 Years as a Golf Director Specialist knowledge of offering a world-class golfing experience; Financial and people management expertise; experience and success in running a profitable Pro Shop Ideal 5+ years experience as Golf Director at a reputable golf club SALARY WIL BE DISCUSSED AND NEGOTIATED WITH THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE Position is Based in Ba-Phalaborwa, but will frequently travel to Skukuza and/or Head-Office based in Midrand/Pretoria Job Type: Full-time Pay: R12345678,00 per month Ability to commute/relocate: Midrand, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required) Application Question(s): Relevant PGA qualification or currently being employed as a Director of Golf at a comparable golf club or estate Education: High School (matric) (Required) Experience: Golf Directing: 3 years (Required) License/Certification: Drivers License (Preferred) Willingness to travel: 75% (Preferred) #J-18808-Ljbffr
